So I got rudder pedals coming.......
« on: July 10, 2009, 11:07:15 PM »
They should be here Tuesday. I'm just starting this thread to try and be prepared when they arrive.

I ordered the CH pedals from Amazon.com

Should I load the software, or are they plug and play?

I read one review and the person said it wouldn't work with other MFR's joysticks?

This sounded ridiculous to me and I ordered them anyway.

I use a Logitch 3d pro joystick which I think is fine.

Any helpfull tips to getting them working quickly?

Thanks in advance.

They will work in AH with others joysticks, and throttles for that matter. I personally don't use the CH control manager in AH. I don't feel that it's necessary, but you can if you like.

They should pretty much work right out of the box. Make sure that you calibrate them in windows before you do in AH. You also want to have some way of keeping them from moving around when you are using them.

It will take a little while to get use to using them, but once you do you'll wonder how you ever got along with out them.

CH representatives also recommend you install the control manager and use that to calibrate the CH devices, instead of the windows calibration.

The CH pedals will work with other input devices, I'd like to read that review if you can find it again.

Many people, including CH representatives, recommend using all joysticks behind a powered hub. I never did until a few months ago and I find I have to calibrate less often now, but the joysticks and pedals did work just fine in Aces High when plugged into my motherboard.

It will take a little time getting used to the pedals, but you will be much happier with them than without them in a couple weeks. My other personal recommendation is to put anti-slip material under the pedals if you have a wood or tile floor. If you are putting the pedals on carpet, put the the 'coarse' side of adhesive velcro on the bottom side of the pedals so they don't move on you. They come with rubber feet but with a bit of time (and pet hair or dust) the pads can lose their effectiveness.

That is only the control manager, the software used to program the sticks.

If you're only using pedals from CH, I wouldn't use/install it. Just use the windows calibration and set the axis for the toe brakes and rudder within AH.

I read from a link at the ch website that the drivers for the ch are in the control software.

I didn't install the software for a long time.

Then one day I noticed after an update I couldn't get full throttle and the controls didn't seem as quick????

Installed software and everything went back to normal and worked great afterward???

If you plug them into your computer, your computer will see it and recognize it as the correct CH stick/pedal. I used mine for a long time without the software they suggest you use.

I don't use CH Pedals but I have seen a picture where someone had mounted a piece of wood or some kind of material on the bottom....must be used so they don't slip ot slid on the floor of whatever material they have for a floor.

WEll I got'em. Landed four kills on my 4fth sortie with them :rock :rock Took literally 10 mins to get them up and calibrated.

I did not use the software that came with them.

It's great how steady my aim is now, and how I'm not bleeding E hitting rudder by mistake anymore.

Thanks again.
