For any Judas Priest fans.......
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:09:15 PM »
Know some people who know some people who know some people that recorded parts of this show..  They performed British Steel in its entirety..  Some songs had never even been played live before..  Some were played live quite infrequently or not for years..  Even though Rob's voice isn't as grand compared to what it used to be, I think he still does each song justice..
I was at the show in Indianapolis and while there are some videos of that show, the sound quality of the recording is horrible, but the show was still awesome..  At least in this one the instruments stand out enough to hear..  It was really kick-arse time, however..  The highlight of the evening for me was hearing songs like Rapid Fire, Steeler and Dissident Aggressor..  I've been a Priest fan for many many years..  One my very first shows was seeing them Priest and Maiden(they were touring together) back in 1982..  I was 11 years old...lol  To this day, probably the greatest show I've even seen of that particular kind of music as I'm a very big fan of both..

I'm not really concerned with Rob Halford's sexuality if anyone has anything to say about that..
His capabilities as a front man as well as his 4 octave range voice and humanitarian work speak for themselves....

This one has the better audio I think...

not a huge fan of british steel, so i'm not too upset that they arn't going to be anywhere near me on this tour...course if they were within 1000km or so, i'd make the trip...

"

turbo and nostradamus are the only ones i can't get behind with halford singing...and had turbo been done by any other band, it would probably be held in higher regard.

I saw the original British Steel tour.

Not impressed with their stuff after '84 either.

Sad Wings of Destiny, British Steel, Hellbent for Leather are my favorite Priest Albums.

I'm pretty much in to everything up to Defenders of the Faith as well...

I think the Turbo/Ram it Down era was pathetic..  They were trying to be something they were not...
Not a big fan of Pain Killer or anything after that either...

I'm really into all that obscure stuff that most fans don't even know exists..
Ask your average Priest fan and they have no clue there's anything before British Steel...

(Image removed from quote.)

The one and only comment I'll make about this matter....
Lots of fans knew..  The band knew..  Management knew..
Anyone who put two and two together could figure it out..
It was fairly obvious for a long time..
It wasn't a big shock for most fans..  MTV turned it into something
bigger than it was and gave it the "shock" factor....

Priest made some good tunes, my favorite album was Unleashed in the East...
Their covers of Green man Alishi, and Diamonds and Rust, are true classics, but the whole album was good...
Isn't often that an album is good front to back... Halford had RANGE, just wow!
Victim of changes, Excitor!!!   Man, that guy could break eardrums!!!
Living after Midnight, is one of my favorite riding tunes for cruisin down HWY 101..
Definately one of the bands that made GOOD metal music!!!

So, He's back with band huh?  COOL!!!

Pretty much exactly how it was.  MTV got must have been bored, or lacking in good material to report upon.  It was as you say, fairly obvious.

I guess it was a big deal because it wasn't a known fact from the beginning  like it was with, lets say, Queen.  That never stopped Freddie Mercury from having possibly the best voice in rock & roll.

I have seen some footage of their recent live stuff, and I must say, it may not be as raw and energetic as it was in their prime, but it still kicks some ass.  I don't think Halford has lost too much in the vocal department.

If he has, he has made up for it with his piloting skills  :rock

<---- Maiden fan (and a Spit dweeb, just like Eddie  :lol )

Anodizer, we come from the same place in history.... I grew up with a constant diet of Judas Preist, KISS, Iron Maiden, etc. Was also 11 in '82, and have ALL of that stuff on vinyl as well as the ipod.

I just had 'Screaming For Vengeance' and 'Painkiller' in the cd changer in the garage this past weekend.  :rock  :rock  :rock
