Lots of warping and lag

i'll post my DxDiag but it doesn't seem to be that. I tested this, when i looked at smoke/clouds or any moving object then checked my net status it wasn't a flat line.

A friend of mine DCCBOSS told me to run pingplotter but i'm not sure what IP to plot to see whats wrong.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but that is a very low end system.  With only 512MB of system RAM and an onboard video chip, you need to turn down everything in the game and make sure the system has as few processes as possible running in the background.

In the game, set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 128.  Do not check any preload options, as the computer does not have enough RAM to preload without swapping.  Do not allow skins at all.  Set the game resolution no higher than 1024x768.

Get the background processes, in the Windows Task Manager (under "Processes" tab) down to around 20, or so.

See if all that helps.

I've put everything as low as possible before like you told me a few times but the lag went away and now its back.

Woah.  You want an eye opener?  Go to the "Performance" tab and take a look at your free RAM.

You are asking that computer to do too much with so little available RAM.  The lags and stutters are going to happen as there is not enough free RAM available to run the game in.

I assume you do shut down Firefox when you are playing.

If your computer is using your entire paging file, there's something wrong. You have got to reduce the amount of processes running. Use a utility such as CCleaner to disable processes starting with the system. That way you don't constantly have to end them when it comes to game-time.

Right off the bat I see 14 processes which do not need to be running for the system to operate while gaming. The more you can cut it down, the better the game will run.

Remember, this is for when you want to play the game. If you were just using the system some features will probably stop working as these processes are no longer online to support those features.

Regarding, "wscntfy.exe." You can easily suppress this process by clicking the little red shield with an, "X" inside located on the bottom-right of your screen. After the Security Center loads, click the option, "Change the way Security Center alerts me" on the left. Now uncheck whatever is causing the Security Center to act up then press OK. That will at least take care of one process.


Just so you know, ending these processes will not damage your system. If you think something went horribly wrong just restart your system and everything will be back to normal.

Thanks  :aok I just hope the process's help. I went and played the game yesterday and was still warping badly, it wasn't my connections well it was when i looked at clouds so i logged off :rolleyes:

You can't change it. Instead, you can take measures to ensure it remains steady. For instance, any software firewalls between you and the Internet will slow down the connection since all incoming and outgoing packets are analyzed for your computer's safety. Also, if you run a phone-line through your surge-protector before inserting it into your DSL/Cable modem you are degrading the signal quality. Surge Protectors look at the high-frequency DSL/Cable signal as a power-spike. So they suppress the signal quality to prevent damage to any electrical components.

As far as I'm aware, they won't degrade the signal. Just so you know, if you're not hooking up a phone to that DSL filter, there's no need for it. The DSL portion of the phone-line filter is a non-filtered outlet.
