Well, my wife’s ID has been stolen and now we have, between 3,000 to 5,000 dollars stolen out checking account. :furious  What a freaking mess.  We did get some money back, however, some places will not return the money.  So now we are turning in the info to the state attorney to go after them.  All the transaction where done by internet, so we did get some of the IP address.  Hopefully we will get the SOB that been stealing the money.

Have any of you had problems with this?  What did you do?

Month before last my Brother and his wife had a card number stolen and several overseas charges mostly for airline tickets. To the tune of around 40K. They have already recovered their money.

If the ID was from your wife's debit card you are not responsible for the amounts taken. You need to contact the bank in that case. If checks were forged, same thing applies. You also need to make a Police report and notify all of your creditors and the credit services as well. Change the account that was hammered and get new cards / checks. Don't forget to notify anyone you have a direct deposit or automatic debit with. Contact all 3 credit reporting agencies and give them the info including the Police report case number for verification. Unfortunately this is going to be an ugly and frustrating time for you guys. The sooner you get onto it the lesser the damage.

^^^^Yea, we done everything you suggested.  The bank told us that there are some charges that we have to contact ourself to get the money back.  It they refused we threaten them that they will be dealing with the state attorney.  That where we are at.

I hate ppl who steals money and ID.  if we ever catch them i will personally love stone them.

Budget Savers...


These people said my wife agreed to their 'magazine subscription' when they talked with her, however they have no proof as to her agreeing. (Even though the letter they sent us say their records show proof she agreed :huh )

The thing is, every time they call her they say she's a valued customer and they have sent her a gift, she tells them to basically GFY, stop calling and hangs up.

We recently found out they have been taking $19.95 from our account for 3-4 months now....

We closed out the card they got our info from and are in the process of getting another card.


Wish justifiable homicide applied to these people...

I had it happen to me about 4 years ago and I am still occasionally having to deal with it.  It was a major pain in the arse, originally lost close to $10,000 from it but was able to recover close to 85% of it.  In addition, my credit tanked because of it and that took almost 2.5 years to resolve, I still get the occasional collections call which then force me to fax/email the information to get it removed.

I also had to get a new social security card, new bank account, and credit cards.  Major pain in the arse.

ive had my id stolen six times already and have had to cancell all my cards each time the best way to stop it is to buy gift cards for the internet or use a card that only has 500 dollars max for purchases on the web. as far as banking online ,dont . it stopped for me.

I've never had troubles with online purchases as long as I take care where I am purchasing from online.  My ID was stolen from when I rented a Uhaul to move to LA.  The Uhaul clerk stole my credit card information and from that were able to get my social securit number and other information about me to use.

ive had a server at one restaurant steal my card info. make sure you dont let them go too far with ur cards

This kind of thing was a HUGE problem out here. The new budget airlines, GO! Airlines, while being fantastic for speed, service, and having flight attendants that make the plane look like a Hooters with wings, had a little fine-print service. When you buy a ticket, you join their special club, which charges your credit card $20 a month. Fortunately both of my parents are compulsive bill-checkers and noticed it within the first month. Also fortunately, when we called and said we didnt subscribe to this service, they canceled it and refunded the money. Still my favorite local airline because they sell cheap Starbucks and Amp, the Flight Attendants still dress like it's Hooters, and they fly about 100mph faster than the other company's jets.
