I am currently working on a model..

the model is a Fw190 A8...well i figured i would switch it up a little bit.

Instead of making the aircraft the decals are designed for im doing a Night fighter squadron during '44

The sqaudron is Ng 3 (i believe) the 190 is all light gray/white with black on both sides underneath the cockpit...

heres the question..

1) since it is only a profile I cant see what the wings look like...does anybody know where i could find information on that?

2) did Ng3 even fly A8's? the profile i have is shown flying the A6..but silly me has already added the A8 mg's on the nose...

if any luftwaffe buff could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Nef,

I'm curious as to were u got a template for a 190 NJG 3?

The reason I say is because I've only seen the following AC listed as in operation for that Nacht Unit

Me 110
Ju88C and G
Do17

But it's always possible that 190's were used in some form...but I dont' have any templates for the color schemes for this unit.

I will post the profile when i get home later...

Its from this big bellybutton book on WWII that my grandpa gave me before he died...

Im positive its a A/6 from (not sure, could be wrong) NJG 3

its an awesome scheme for a 190 and what really makes it cool was the Neptun radar....

Ive been surfing looking for the profile so i could just link it here but to no avail...

but now im positive its from NJG 10...

so any help would be greatly appreciated...

Ok NJG 10 used a white/light grey pattern I believe. It looks like it's more akin to fighting in the snow, not at night.

But any profiles you find will probably NOT show the top pattern. I must assume the wings follow a close pattern to the rest of hte body with the wing tops probably darker than the bottom.

My suggestion would be search for Luftwaffe models. There's a lot of modelers out there that may have info on what colors and/or pattern.

Also check the Luftwaffe Board at 12 O'clock High site there's usually lots of ppl that post there about camo schemes and they might have what your looking for.

The one picture I have in my book is an A-6/R11 flown by Oberleutnant Krause of 1/NjGr10 (not NJG10). It is light gray (almost white) with a mat black swath that starts at the back of the engine cowling and the bottom of the cowl in front of the canopy and angles back to meet the wing. It extends as mat black over the whole of the upper wing surface from what I can tell in profile. I know it's not the best description but you might be able to find the plane on the web from the squad number or pilot name. Good luck.

I found it at the hyperscale site but its not the profile listed in the book i have...

even though the numbers (11) are the same with the same wilde sau emblem on the front...I think this might be a later scheme of the same aircraft...

the A/6 at hyperscale is dark gray, the A/6 in my book is almost pure white!

I took a look in the Osprey LW Nightfighter aces book at lunch. They dont have a profile but they have a picure of a pilot standing by the tail of a night fighter FW. The tail and fusalage have a very light colour but the wings behind have what appear to be the standard colours..definaltly much darker then the fusalage.
