Screamers
« on: July 20, 2009, 11:08:47 AM »
Hopefully I'll get a back pay check this summer. To go along with my kid liking, and needing, this system.

What screamers are out there for gaming? Say for just the tower and the guts since I have everything else.

Say $$ really not an object. No problemo spending a couple/3 grand.

You absolutely don't need to pay $3000.00 for a system..  That's insane and anyone paying that much for a system from Dell or HP/Compaq needs a lobotomy..
$1000.00 will get you a system so fast that it'll change your underwear for you while driving and you'll never even know..

If money is seriously no object, have TillDeath build something really nice for you..  Not to say he's super expensive or anything..  But you gotta pay for quality workmanship and
parts..  $3000.00   :rofl  That's preposterous...

Get yourself an X58 Motherboard, PC Power & Cooling 860W Power Supply, Intel i7 975 quad-core processor, 6 gigabytes of DDR3 memory, an NVIDIA GTX295 video card, one-two 500GB SATA hard drives, and one-two SATA DVD/CD burner/reader.

Operating system is your decision. I would go with a 64-bit Operating System since you would have 6GB of RAM.

All of this can be found on Newegg.

He's giving you advice. His advice is to talk to TilDeath because he builds screamers for relatively low prices.

Can you assemble an Erector Set, Lincoln Logs or Legos?  If you answered yes then build it yourself.  $1500 (or less) and you'll have all the system you can handle.

He's telling you the truth.

The work done is exceptional!  :x

Worth every penny!  :rock

You'll get more system for your money, and it will be setup properly BEFORE it is shipped to you!  :rock

Motherboard: X58.
Processor: Core i7 Processor.
RAM: DDR3.
Video Card: ATI 4830 / NVIDIA GTX295
Hard Drive: Depends on your needs and preference. Either a 10,000 RPM SATA drive, a 7,200 RPM SATA drive, or a Solid-State-Drive (SSD).

Here is what I am putting together this week. I saved a little on the video card because I don't need a GTX295 to run what I want to do and if I decide to upgrade soon EVGA does a trade up so I am ok. I also have a new 1TB SATA and SATA DVD burner here.

You can cut some costs and go with an e8400 or e8500 intel chip. Get a matching gigabyte board and a PC Power and Cooling Power supply, preferably 750 quad. Video cards, Don't know much there, I would like the 4800 series. I use the 2 of the 3800 series each in a different machine. As far as cases go, NZXT or Antec 900.

Let me put some costs together here:
E8500 = $190
ATI: MSI 4850 512 = $90 after rebate
Gigabyte 775 board = $100 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227289 = $52 after rebate.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146047 NZXT Tempest Case $80 after rebate.

$512 not counting hard drive, OS, or taxes.

This is just an idea. Fairly reasonable in my opinion. Use it as a base and do some research on video cards, motherboards, and CPU's. You can actually go cheaper with e8400 or even an amd chip. On amd chip I would strongly recommend you do some detailed research so you don't get one with a bug. Of course you can go higher with the i7 core. Good luck! keep us posted.

Of course..  The fact that you threw the $3000.00 number out their is evident that you don't know the market..  That's not a shot at you..  Was just saying, no reason to spend 3 grand..  If you have it to throw away, that's great..  But you truly don't need to spend that..

With 3 grand, you begin to start maxing out your computer parts.  Sure you could get those Intel Extreme editions for $1000 for a CPU, but that's just flushing money away.  You could start utilizing the extra money on multi-monitor setups.  Desk, CH gear, speakers, networking backup etc.  Man....what I'd do with $3000!
