Just found out through another squad member, rampytho, that Blue was in a roll over accident last night on his motorcycle.  Broke both wrist and ruptured his spleen.  I will do my best to keep everyone updated.

Thats horrible... condolences and hopes for a speedy recovery.

Events like this are why I cant bring myself to buy a bike... all of my friends had one at some point, and at some point they all had a near-death experience that forced them to sell.

Ironically enough, it never seems to be the rider's fault.  Its always some damned minivan who doesnt see them...

Blue -  Welcome to the club and sad you had to join so forcefully.  I can commiserate as a charter member too, but I think your dues may have been a bit higher than mine.

Anyway, glad to hear you're on the mend.  It's a long, painful, sometimes boring road, but very enlightening.  You're about to find out just what friendship (and considering you fiance, true love) really means, and just how many friends (hopefully you only have one fiance) you really have.   :D

The real question is...   have you decided on what your next bike will be?    :rofl

hey sloehand, reverend, and phatso.

yeah i have found i am one lucky dude as far as family and friends go.  They have been absolutely great,  my fiance has proven time and again that I am making the right choice with her.

As far as my next ride goes (yes there will be one)..........a month before the accident I went on a 1200mile 5 day ride  through  NY, Vermont, and NH.  That ride had already convinced me I need a bigger bike with full dress and a windshield (at least for extended rides).  I was with 5 other guys 2 of them let me test their rides, a 1200 Harley and a 1300 vstar.  Both very nice cruisers and didnt need to fight the wind and very smooth through the gears, although not quite as responsive or racy as my late bike.

So not sure what ride it's gonna be yet, I got plenty of time to figure it out though.

I'm always up for suggestions/stories of others rides though.

Stay safe and stay in the wind

Built a '71 shovelhead and know I need a touring bike but I just love the rubble that Shovel makes. Looking at a 2003 RoadKing to go on the LONG rides but also like my buddies VTX 1800. That shaft drive makes shifting so smooth. He also has a VTX 1300 that he made into a pretty badprettythang bagger. Anyway get back on that horse  a.s.a.p.  and KEEP THE RUBBER DOWN.....!lolol <<<!S!>>>
