Bomber Doors
« on: July 22, 2009, 06:53:19 PM »
Not a request per say but a bit of a personal pet peeve. When you say open the Lancaster bomb doors. There's no delay in dropping bombs. You can start dropping bombs the instant you hit "open" Shouldn't there be a 5 to ten second delay so your not dropping your bombs on your own bay doors? Ruining you day in a real hurry.

Also it got me thinking about something. Some one recently requested towed Field artillery. But overall the issue against it was theres no way to prevent 80 people from spawning all at once over and over pounding a town or airfield into submission. If you could say adjust the opening time for each individual vehical then say you could make it so it takes 2 minutes to deploy a 105 Howitzer. Programing it so its like opening a bomb bay door then that in theory would be more balanced for towed cannons.

Any thoughts, ideas and hate mail would be appreciated  :rock

I believe several towns and airbases were shelled into submission throughout the course of the war. So if anything, mass uppings of howitzers would be just fine by me.

I do agree with the delay of bombs being able to be dropped once the doors fully open.

I don't know about the doors on a Lanc, but I saw the doors open on a B25 in an airshow and it took maybe 1.5 seconds for them to snap open.

Others were mechanically opened XD You could adjust the timer for each. Say in the case of the B-25 1.5 seconds. OR the lancaster longer or what not.

You might also try "sudo bomb doors open", you will then know if your Lanc is running windows or 'nix

In fact the same thing happens when you activate landing gear. You can still hear it coming out after you have touched down.

I would think the weight of the bombs would burst open the bomb bay doors, unless they are surrender leaflets.

Yes, but the impact into the doors could make the bombs a dud and cause ALOT of damage to the machinary required to open the bomb bay doors...

I'm trying to research the time it took for the Avro Lancasters bomb bay doors to open, give me a little time and I'll post it. :D
