i think i was completly wrong (190)
« on: March 08, 2001, 03:48:00 AM »
I had again a close look to all sources and came to the conclusion that i misinterpreted most sources.

The Dora didīn make 600km/h with 1900hp

I apologize to everyone - my fault

The most probable interpretation of Naudets chart is now for me:

Curve 4 (605km/h) is calculated with 2240HP(!!) at sealevel. 2100HP would be ~595km/h.
Curve 1 (565km/h) is for 1900hp
Curve 5 (545km/h) is for ~1800hp (usually 1700hp, but they calculated with 3250rpm instead of 3000)

and the curve without an identifier, starting at ~505km/h is for continous flight.

Now this chart matches perfectly my engine chart. The curve 3 is indeed (S! Buzzbait you were right all time) for a special charger.

The same is valid for the climb chart from Naudet:
21m/s with 2240hp
17,5m/s with 1900hp
15 m/s with 1700hp

This is almost equal to the data from Wisk

FW190-D9:
Engine: Jumo-213A, 1780hp at take-off, 1480hp at alt (1600 in combat mode)
Take-off weight: 4197kg
Top speeds: sea lvl - 530km/h(543 in combat mode), at alt - 631km/h at 6150m (642 at 6100m)
Time of climb to 5000m: 5.6min

When combat mode is in this test ~1750hp, than the german number for 1800hp (545 km/h) is almost equal to the russian test result (543km/h).

Sooooo the uber fighter is gone   We can hope to get 2240hp with mw50

At least german performance calculations werenīt exaggerated hihi

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!! It can't be!!! Soviet data is just bad bad bad! Just ask R4M, he knows these things!

So... What kind of Dora will get modeled, with or without MW 50? I thought most Dora's had MW 50.

This thing puzzles me: how come none of the critical altitudes match?

Eg: for Steig-u.Kampfleistung:

Engine chart: 1.6km, 5.2km
Climb chart: 2.5km, 5.8km
Speed chart: 3.1(3.3)km, 6.6km

Could the special ram air intake for the supercharger really make that much of a difference?!

Jochen: WarBirds' Fw 190D-9 has MW 50, it does about 600km/h at sea level, similar to the figure on the FW speed chart. It will presumably be the same in Aces High.

Niklas would you please do a translation on the Chart itself and post it? I'm thinking of starting to collect and post all this original test data I have collected over time on my website.

Well then if this is true we can pretty much rule out that the D9 will be perked, AND rule in the fact that the La7 MIGHT be. Cause now, the La7 speed curve will be the best for under 10k.
