Late night in the Blue Arena
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:26:11 PM »
The last couple of nights (very late) nits have been experiencing HOURS of ENY from Hell.  Nit numbers are double those of the bish and rooks.  The ENY was been ungodly and the arena cap never seems to kick in to balance the numbers.

The antique fighters fighters we are left to fly cant even compete with what the enemy are flying in with.  Forget about defending against an enemy carrier group because we cant fly a fighter that will carry a decent ordinance load out.   And offensive defense (porking enemy fields to slow their advances) was just a waste of time since the couple of bombers we were able to fly cant carry more than a few 500 lb. bombs.

So, WHERE were all the extra nits???  We were attacked by HORDES of bish and rooks but the numbers of nits there to defend are half that of those attacking.  Arena cap never seemed to kick in to balance the numbers either.

I didn't check the roster to see who was actually playing and who couldn't be found.  I can only guess that there must be a number of people who have been leaving the game running while they slept.  Heh, sounds kind of paranoid but Ive even considered that it might be part of the bish and rook pact to attack only nits by side hop to nits at the end of their night and leaving the game running while they sleep.

I hate to admit to being a quitter but a large percentage of us decided we finally had enough with the futility of it all and left en mass to the orange arena.

Can you define 'antique' fighters?

No 109s, 190s, Spit 5s and 9s, no 38Gs and Js?  No FM2s, F6Fs, etc?

I was in Blue last night.  Both Nits and Rooks had 2x the numbers Bish had.  Despite that Bish were gaining bases on both fronts.  262's were going cheap (under 50 perks) if you were a Bish.

The antique fighters fighters we are left to fly cant even compete with what the enemy are flying in with.

The 109G-2 can compete with any unperked plane the enemy can throw at you. The 109F-4 can outturn a Spit 16.
Also there are still FW 190A8 for buff busting an ground strafing, P-38G with 2x1000lbs for dropping enemy crusiers & CVs and so on.

And these are "worst case panes" - when ENY goes to 29 they are still available. At ENY 25 you can add Spit V, Msossie, 190A-5 and so on.

I'm talking about LATE last night and into the wee hours of the morning.  There were close to 100 nits and 40 - 50 bish and rooks but WHERE were the nits.  Never saw them.  If you doubt what I say, ask FBDred of Freebirds.

OK, OK, so I exaggerated a little.  Ill admit, the challenge of fighting in high eny planes was fun, to a point but the complete lack of a decent bomber just made it WAY too unbalanced.

That would explain why Knights are always outnumbered in Orange.

I'm not doubting the numbers.  I have no idea where the 100 Knits were.  That they would all be holding spots while afk seems a bit silly to me.  Unless HTC starts kicking people out of the arenas when they don't move for a certain amount of time, I don't know what to tell ya.  Talk to the folks who preach chess piece loyalty.  Maybe they'll have an answer or a justification :)

Sounds like the Knits could have used help in the other arena anyway.

Orange has way less knights than bish or rook. Been flying 262 all week casue they are so cheap. Hard to get into orange so I stay logged in now. Blue just sucks for knights. Knights seem to get hammered on both fronts and also have ENY to add to the mess. Should not have an ENY when your fighting both countries. Always been a problem though. Depends where your at on the map if your gonna get ganged or not. I think it would be interesting to go to a 2 country setup since we have 2 arenas now.  I think you would have squads keep the numbers more appropriate than we do with a three country setup.  Anyone noticed that the DA furball has been getting very populated?  Something needs to be changed to keep the gameplay more consistant imho. Wouldn't hurt to try it.

One other thing. To change to Rook or Bish for a Knight will do no good. Rooks and Bish are not fighting. I look for the fights, so I would just go fight knights. Just adding one more guy to the horde. I would not have a ENY but that dont matter because I am flying with superior numbers. I could be in a TBM and make it home.

Funny I almost never have to contend with eny, because I try to fly for the side with the lowest numbers.

Plan B is that I normally fly planes not effected by eny. Sure I die a lot but at least I'm charging at the horde not with it.

Moot, I love ya man, one of the best pilots in the game.

But, I think you missed the point of the thread.  Sounds funny too hearing this from someone who's always off by themselves and doing more damage alone than 10 pilots put together.  :salute
