Important note to Vista users
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:22:44 PM »
We've seen a number of Vista users report that the game crashed when they tried to run it after installing it.  The fix for this problem has been found to be to run it once as an administrator, just to the opening clipboard is fine, and then quit out.  After that you can just run it as normal and it runs.  It appears that this only affects Vista users who have AH installed in Program Files.  Apparently, this is something that has changed in Vista since our last regular patch.  It did not surface in the Beta since we changed the default installation path out of Program Files.

Although this work around will get you running, we really recommend that anybody who is currently using Vista and has AH installed in Program Files just download the base download (it's only 30 MB bigger than the patch) and install it in the default directory which is no longer in Program Files.

We're now finding that Vista users who are installed under the Program Files folder are unable to download terrains.  We are finding that there is no suitable workaround to just reinstalling the new base download into the new default path which is no longer under Program Files.  This will fix your problems with terrains not downloading and settings disappearing or changing.  It will still require you to run as an administrator when using the autoupdater to download a new patch.

Again, if you are a Vista user who has the game installed in Program Files, most likely the old default path of c:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II, it will save you and us a lot of headaches in the future to remove your current version and install the new base download into the new default directory.
