Oh man I want this gun

There is a Romanian Dragunov at the local gun store and I want it. It's $856 but I don't have the moolah. Dangit!

They look cool, I'll admit...  But I'd rather have a heavy barrel 700...

Honestly I'm looking for A gun but I don't know if I want a rifle, a shotty, or a dragunov for the hellof it. it'dbe reallly cool to have the dragunov but I or my friend don't have the money to put into it. I hope it's not gone when I do have the money though. I was looking around Remmy's at R700's and stuff but I'd rather have a semi. My dad has a pump 270 and a semi 270, but honestly I don't really deer hunt. I'm more turkey/duck/goose.

After we get ourselves a 1903(or the Enfield version, which I would prefer) we were looking at some Lee Enfields. All are Mk. 3s, and my friend even has the Jungle Carbine version.

And they're reasonable too, $250-275. We may just get one of those instead of a 1903. Very interesting with what you can find at the local pawn shops.
No one knows what the future may bring.

If you just want to shoot get yourself a 22 pistol conversion. Something like a CZ 75 firing .22/9mm and a couple of mags for both. Shoot all day for ten bucks and yet still a meaningful defense gun should you decide to use it that route. You can find them new for 700-800 dollars and used for a lot less. Also unless you rich ammo price will effect how much you shoot. That killer round might be fun to shoot but at a dollar a round how long can you do it? I have one gun that the ammunition costs 15 to 20 bucks a round. They are hand loaded and I am counting time here but you get the point. I go and spend two hours to shoot 10 rounds at 1000 yards. That might not seem fun but when you cover the group with your hand its great fun for me. The type of gun that would be the most fun depends on money and priorities. If you just want something to go bang (or pop in this case) a .22 will be your best bet.

Get a Ruger "slabside" .22 pistol.   Work on your Fundamentals prior to dropping coin on rifles, etc.   Ruger 22's have always had a smooth trigger pull, when compared to Browning Buckmarks, etc.

My $.02.

You can buy the Romanian PSL's for much cheaper online.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I think I'm looking at a R-15 or R-25 seriously. Gander Mtn has an R-15 but the 223 is too small for deer IMHO. The R-25 is newer, probably more expensive but it has an option for 243, 7mm, or 308. I'd probably look at 7mm...does anyone know good sites to shop online for guns, or at least to look around and get pricing? I'm thinking of going to cabelas when my dad goes to East Hartford, but Cabelas is probably 3x as expensive...I can't seem to find pricing right from remington, either.

The June 09 issue of shooting times had the .30 RAR featured and listed an MSRP of $1225.00 for it. It also has a single loading with a 125 gr. bullet at this time. That's the only loading they had in the magazine and it is comparable to the regular .308 Remington round with the same bullet. The .30 RAR is a far shorter round so using a heavier bullet is likely to have less velocity than the regular .308 (7.62 NATO) is capable of limiting your hunting options.

There are AR style rifles that have been built up to handle the larger .308 round and those might be a better choice for you especially until some ammo manufacturer decides to make a factory round for the .30 RAR.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I only hunt for Deer mainly, and that's when I actually do...Im more of a turkey/waterfowler.

I googled that article and read it through as well. So you are saying I should look around for an R-25 and not a R-15?
