Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I noticed that there was no mention on letting the consumer know that there would be information on how the hell to work that airborne radar. I hope there will and readily available, otherwise, I will have as much trouble with that as with the bombsight on bombers.

I'm yet to even attempt level bombing in Il-2.  I watched the tutorial and it didn't seem so bad.  Now I'll have to try it myself.

Don't feel too bad about it Cav.  At the worst you'll be flying a sim with an okay flight model, but with good damage modeling and terrain, water, lighting and clouds that look fantastic. :P

my biggest problem with IL2, is that every plane feels the same..just a different cockpit

QFT. They also WAY overdid it with engine overheats, and the flight model itself is just generally mediocre.

The hardest part is keeping it level, especially if you don't have sliders for trim.

I never use the little sliders on my joystick.  I leave them in one place, calibrate the stick, and then don't mess with it.  If I need to trim the aircraft I use the keys for the actual control surface trim tabs.  In aircraft that lack them for the roll axis, e.g. Bf 109, Spitfire, throttle control works great to take the pressure off the stick when you're not maneuvering in combat.

Btw, the Il-2 hating that comes up in a thread like this gets really old.  It's the same way when someone brings up AH in the Il-2 forums: everyone has to give examples for what they don't like about it.

Yeah, but it's not the AvA arena itself that people complain about. :lol

Not that you haven't done your share of Il-2 bashing. ;)

Then, let us say what we like about it. I will go first.

I like being able to fly biplanes and REALLY early war aircraft.

Edit:Also, is the Oleg on the forums and ingame the real Oleg?

I like that it's the prettiest flight sim I can run on my computer, i.e. clouds, lighting, terrain, even the crazy 2d hovering trees look great unless you're on the deck.  I also like the damage modeling, how taking damage degrades the aerodynamic qualities of the aircraft.  I like that reducing the throttle has an effect on engine cooling time.  I like the ridiculous variety of aircraft, including the 109G-6/AS.  There are other things I like in addition to this list, and I'm looking forward to an official 4.09 update.
