Many would consider that a better system.  In fact it is not that dated.  Keep in mind that that system sold off of the shelves would be current while purchasing the parts many would consider it dated in the inner circle of system builders.

A Dual core anything with a 7 series nvidia card is NOT outdated.  Maybe to play Crisis 500000 or Quake 123423 , but when you aren't trying to beat the latest FPS intensive game curve, it is not.

I was talking to a friend yesterday, both of us built our systems about the same time, thanksgiving a year ago. So they are both about a year and a half old.

Both Intel core 2 duo 8400's

He's got 4 gb of ram & runs vista
I've got 2gb of ram & run XP.

He's got a much more expensive video card
I'm running on a little ATI 2600xt 512mb

He's getting mid 50's  and I'm getting  rock solid 75's.

His cost 3x as much as mine did.

If your having issues, start here.
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,231506.0.html

It helps in my opinion to not run vista.
Sorry but like it or not, it simply takes more hardware to run the same application at the same speed.

It helps if your XP is CLEAN and LEAN! No ati control center installed, nothing starts with windows except threatfire and skype. Processes should be in the 24 - 26 range, certainly not above 30. Hard drive should have been defragged in the last month.

If your having issues, lose the hi res pack, drop the texture size down 1, lower the screen resolution down to 1024x768, turn the details down, in short, cut out the eye candy until its solid. Then slowly see what you can keep.

Make sure your running nothing you don't need to run when you start AH.

Its not rocket science folks, but it does help if you know your machine.

Running Vista with max setting with no problems.  People complain about Vista but I haven't had a problems with it.  I just followed the advice of the tech boards and everything is running perfect.

I have my FPS locked at 59, its amazingly smooth and so far havent come across any bugs other than it takes  while to load if I Alt Tab. But thats fine, just no Alt tabbing for me  :aok However if I put on Shadows I drop to about 15 FPS. Its a huge huge hit! But I can live without shadows.

In short, Thank you Hitech and crew for a brilliant update

Solid 60 (limited) on high res full, less soft shadows.

C2D 3.0
8800GT
XP Pro

I'd like to see the detractors posting screenshots of minium graphical settings in their "Guess Im leaving" threads post their DXDiag's.

If they start with "386SX-16" then you are banned from the game for life.

Too many people are quick to bash the new version without doing even a little due-diligence by looking at how their system is configured.

It took me just under 17 minutes to DL and I'm holding 59 fps (monitor refresh rate) steady although when I turn on self-shadows it drops to 45 fps.

Shadowing options in other games don't hit my machine like that so hopefully HT will get it sorted out so I can re-enable that option but that's a pretty small issue at the moment considering what others are having to contend with.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Having no problems with game and having all the features turned off is not really a test is it?
The new version feels quite different and may take some time to get used to. Also they already had 1 patch last night. I noticed a lot of lag more than I have ever experienced before. It was near impossible to bomb effectively as the bomb drops were delayed.
I thought in a fighter the rear view was narrow or appeared so and checking six was a challenge.
My system is a Dual core Dell about 4 years old with an older 7400 G-force card.
With this economy there is no room now for an upgrade and if the game remains unplayable I won't enjoy it as I have in the past.
I will have patience and I know it was just the first day. Progress is sometimes painful.  :D

Because of the multiple passes the shader must do.
