Radeon X1650 Series

How about you treat yourself to a new graphics card ? The payoff would be huge.

Your video card is your current bottleneck.  You need to be careful if you consider an upgrade to make sure you have the power supply to run a new card.  Most require 350-400W minimum or higher and about 26 amps on the +12V rail(s).

Couple of quick things to try.

1)  Make sure the ATI Catalyst Control Center is not running in the system tray!  That costs a good chunk of your video card's performance.

2)  In Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services (have to set the Control Panel to "Classic View"), disable "Superfetch" and "ReadyBoost".  Disabling these will not impact any other application.  For laptops, it can by back quite a bit of lost performance after you first start the computer.

3)  Unload iTunes if it is installed.  It will, not "can", but will, hurt your computer performance as well.

4)  Make sure the game is not installed in the "Program Files" folder.  In Vista and Windows 7, there is a performance penalty for anything installed in that folder.

HiTech and company, you're gonna get a lot of posts like this from people using low end computers like xOLLYx...

That is an Acer Aspire 5100 that uses a video chipset and a shared video memory system like most laptops...not a dedicated video card.

Aside from its quad-core AMD Phenom 9500 CPU and 3GB of RAM, the Aspire M5100 is similar to most other standard $400-to-$700 PCs. You typically won't find graphics cards, dual hard drives, TV tuners, Blu-ray drives, or wireless networking in this price range, but what you get is a solid workaday computer that, short of gaming or intense multimedia editing, is capable of performing most tasks you'd expect it to.

Card name: Radeon X1650 Series
Display Memory: 1662 MB
Dedicated Memory: 254 MB <---this is on the mobo as part of the video chip system
Shared Memory: 1407 MB <---this is part of the system memory

The fact that he's getting 60 frames is pretty good considering the specs on that system...

Did you buy it that way? Because those low end ATI x12/13/16 series video cards are typically a chip on the mobo (especially in low end Acer, HP, etc...)...

If you're planning on buying a new card...be aware, you are going to need an AGP graphics card and finding a quality one that old is going to be tough...try this:

I was only able to spend a few minutes on last night.  Definately going to need my planned upgrade.  My 512 MB Vcard and 1 gig sysmen arent going to cut it anymore.

Yeager...I have a 512MB vid card too and I'm not having too much of an issue. What are your system specs?

512 mb is pretty standard so it's not the amount of video memory that's causing your problem.  Another 1Gb of system memory would be a big plus though.
