E5200 (2.5ghz) $67
E5300 (2.6ghz) $72
E6300 Wolfdale not Conroe/Allendale (2.8ghz) $83
That's not terribly expensive. An extra core will make a world of difference.
Last year $400.00 for an upgrade would be "fine". Wouldn't have batted an eye or thought twice and I would have a new mobo, ram and cpu shipped from newegg allready.
But...
House burnt down last Sept. (lost my business) Burnt through $20,000 in savings trying to rebuild.
Ex-wfie decided to try and raise my support payments (retro to divorce 8yrs ago and 2 weeks before she remarried. typical) so there's $5,000 on attorneys I spent last month.
Just not in any position what so ever to drop even $20.00 extra at this moment in time.
Life happens and times are tough at the moment.
I'm sure in 6 months I will be "fine" but at this particular juncture I can't afford it.
(so who's got an extra CPU they can ship me?)
