DDR3 Price Jump
« on: July 31, 2009, 05:28:05 PM »
DDR3 prices have jumped through the ROOF.  Memory that was 135.00 yesterday is now closer to 180.00 today.  The pricing will continue to increase so if your looking for DDR3 or planning a build using DDR3 get your orders in now.  Most manufactures are out of stock with the anticipation of companies making large quanity purchases before the jump.  OCZ has almost no stock of DDR3 1800 and up memory and is not getting any in until the middle to the end of August.  Also the Vendetta 2's are out of stock until the end of August (bwahhhhhh I have a good stock of these).  So when you say HOLY butter that is expensive memory now you know why.

Why the jump? Do you know if it is temporary?

Hey TD, Does anyone know what has caused the "jump"?    Is it the W7/i7 deal?
I got it, that the Manu's are out of stock, Mem Manu's?  Is that because comp
building co's have purchased all the supps, like Dell, HP, Compaq, etc..?

Not important, just wondering what the root cause of the shortage is?

Maybe is all those darned AHII players being forced to upgrade :lol

The way with memory, it's very Supply vs Demand.

OH NO!!!! see what you did HTC...... you caused a shortage in the marketplace........... now the namebrand manufacturers will be screaming your name in their sleep....... even though they're too cheap to include any quality stuff in their builds anyhow

The way with memory, it's very Supply vs Demand.

Ram does this fairly often, they cut production to save money on the line and they make up the difference later by selling it for a higher price.

I remember this happening back in 1995 when I started upgrading my boxes routinely.

Ah, taking business Q's from the oil companies huh? Artificially restrict supplies, to drive up the price?
Especially right before the big push on newer systems, like i7... Smart!!!   Dirty and underhanded market
manipulation, but smart for the bottom line... Such is life in the 21st century I guess!!!

I remember when RAM was so expensive it was nearly like gold. Of course this was back in 1998-2000 before RAM took a massive nosedive in prices.
