sky hook
« on: July 31, 2009, 09:03:24 PM »
anyone like james bond? well at the end of thunderball, bond and domino are picked up from a raft by a B-17 with a big snag on the front using a ballon with a line attached to them and a balloon. watching that got me thinking. it would be cool if we could do this here. the method used in Thunderball was developed for the CIA based off of what the US and Britian did in WWII

In WWII, it wasnt a B-17, but a C-47 that was the aircraft used. also instead of a balloon, 2 poles were stood up with a line stretched across for a hook to catch.

it would just be something cool to have in the game. there obviously is more important things that would need to be done first. this could give the rescuer some bomber points and allow the rescuee to be saved without a death being counted (only after getting back to base).

was just a thought for a possible cool feature which was actually done in the war. not expecting it to happen though.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Fulton first used instrumented dummies as he prepared for a live pickup. He next used a pig, as pigs have nervous systems close to humans. Lifted off the ground, the pig began to spin as it flew through the air at 125 mph (200 km/h). It arrived on board uninjured but in a disoriented state. Once it recovered, it attacked the crew.

No thank you. Too many armchair generals would attempt to hijack your plane.

Wow, that's a surprise.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Don't care about skyhook, but I'll take Domino any day.  :O

+1 as long as I can attack the crew after recovering from my disorientation.
