We lost a great many things.

Lost
• beach obstacles
• decent ground clutter - someone slaughtered all the sheep!
(looks like I'm driving across the sargasso sea when I'm in a GV)
• structures and terrain for GV's
• hills (can't find any, but that might just be me)
• wakes (unless you can run the game with details)
• decent water (with detail turned down the tiling looks hideous)
• trouble-free performance

I'm, sorry to say this but the terrain is far less interesting
now.  It looks kike a photo from the sky but thats about it.

Gained
• shiny water with kewl reflections
• 2 planes (that didn't require an entire upgrade to get, BTW)
• headaches
• anything I missed here??

So, was the trade-off worth it?  Not for me.
I have upgrade fatigue and won't be buying any
new hardware for my PC.  Personally, I'm hoping
Dale & crew will figure out a way to amake it work
across his client base, and not just for those who
can afford to build a PC around a game.

i agree completely. the ground looks terrible. Its PLAIN! literally plain compare to the old version. and not to mention, those two planes arent really the best. why wouldnt you bring the He-111? or the 410? or that other russian bomber? i forget what its called. Honestly this game was much better in a seperate program (like the beta) rather than just going over the actual game. My frame rates are crap now. I have to buy upgrades because of it. Some of the planes i see are completely WHITE. Ya sure the water is nice. the ships look better (not sure if they updated it but ok) and i can see all the GV's on the ground without having to change to vis ground view or other things in the distance. but the land is plain. there are little dots of trees and stuff besides the trees all over (which was awesome). I dont know, the update didnt do anything that GREAT in my mind. its also not that busy as it used to be. on times in the old version, orange would be 300/300 people in but now i would see only 200/200 (average). Update this game like it used to be but keep the graphics and raise the frames. do it so i dont have to waste money on upgrading and so my squadmates can come back and play. Thank you.

Has nothing to do with the new version. It's simply a problem with new/converted terrain intended for immediate use when a fundamental new version arrives. The purpose of these terrains is to immediately provide the players with a terrain to play in, and how well detailed and crafted the terrain is, is not an issue.

Or perhaps you'd like the AH service to be halted for maybe a few weeks until the developers or mapmakers can come up with a beutiful new terrain which has all the details the previous version terrains had?

i'd say 2, but i really cant run with detailed terrain/water boxes checked, I get average about 20fps.  But with detailed terrain unchecked, It's pretty much the same game as 2 weeks ago -- the ground is a blur at the moment, but the game still functions, is fully playable, and I fully peg my display vsync of 60fps now at all times  :D

I'd almost go towards 1 because:

Quote

Lancaster nose guns now fire from the correct position.

Fixed a bug that would allow vehicles to spawn on airplane spawn points using the .fly command.

Tracers on the P-39’s 37mm now display.

B-25H’s manifold pressure and RPM gauges were recalibrated.

Spitfire XIV fuel damage labels were reversed.

Fixed a typo in the Il-2’s damage list.

Fixed a bug that caused radiator leaks in the Ju88’s engine to remain after the wing was gone.

Lancaster radiator damage now shows up in the damage list.
