Things Move Forward Why Don't You
« on: August 01, 2009, 04:05:34 PM »
I have been reading the numerous post about how people want the old program back because there systems are inadequate to handle upgrades this game, even with these moderate changes the damand on there existing systems is severe. Well in my opinion if that's where your at now, you have been out of touch with reality, it is inevitable that you will need to upgrade your systems to keep pace just with what going out normal in the computer world let alone Gaming, and what make this game any different then the old Playstation or Nintendo. Most of who have been reading these forums know that it was coming and now are poo pooing the work that HTC has gone through to keep us interested and make more enjoyable to use. So thinking forward is what you need to do, I'm sure they will upgrade this again at some point and put even a higher demand your computer system. As for myself if the thing I want to do requires me to upgrade my computer to do it then I'll do just that if I want to do that thing bad enough, which from what I've seen most of players have upgraded or modified there systems to meet those ends. I think the trick is to build or buy as system that exceeds the requirements at present but will allow you keep up with changes as time moves on, my system was custom built in 2007 and went through this upgrade with very little adjusting.

My final word is that find someone who good at computer modifications and get informed advice on how approach your issues

You make it sound so easy.

Maybe if I could just squat down and pinch out a brand new gaming rig?

The thing is, so many people can't play at all now and why? Ya'll wanted pretty water.

Some people need more time to process change and in the meantime we could act like a community and help them work their way to that conclusion.

We have a guy in our squad running a 2002 Dell TPS 600. We're all going through our cupboards looking for things we've retired in the last couple of years, so he can build something that will work better than his current rig.

I see a LOT of whining from people in a privileged position. Not everyone playing this game is a fat, tinfoil hat wearing computer genius.

The clock is running for many players.

They are waiting for HTC to square this game away
so players who enjoyed the game in version 2.13
can similarly enjoy it in its newest iteration.

But that challenge is for HiTech Creations to meet,
not the existing player base.

You guys with your lifetime subscriptions and uber
gaming rigs need to understand something.
How sustainable do you think your beloved pasttime will
be when Mary Jane can only buy her son the $400 E-Machine
and little Johnny can't play this game on it?

Where is subscription growth coming from?
What's the demographic of these new subscribers?

Surely you've noticed that many of the newer players
over the summer have been adolescents.  That demographic
isn't known for its deep pockets, especially now in this
contracting economy.

I'm afraid that when little Johnny fires up his $400 PC that
this new version will disappoint.  Then Johnny fires
up WoW and never looks back.  This can't bode well
for the game.

That's my concern and the clock is running.

Im seeing people with faster computers than mine that are having troubles.......That does not make 0.02 Its probably just a code thing that they will figure out .....They have come a long way if you as me.

Im running faster fr and the graphics are clearer then before.  With trackir focus is crystal clear.

The above is the same people who were whining about the graphics to begin with.  Said "adolescents" are already playing the "latest and greatest" boxed game.

I stopped playing EQ and WoW because my computer couldn't handle it.  My computer can still handle AH2.

We are talking about people who dislike the new version becasue their system's are inadequate to handle the newer graphics, not the stuttering bug which will soon be fixed.

So anyone remember New Coke in the 80s and how well that went for the Coca-Cola Co. Even Bill Cosby couldn't sell that one. Is this a New Coke moment for HTC?

I disagree In part ..were there have been lots of people who clearly needed to tweek their system.  While this statment may be true for you ... there are others that have solved their problems on their end not HItechs..

<S>  AS I said in a previous post there are players who have faster cpus than mine that are having troubles....
All most everyone has a differant setup of some sort....so their is no way its going to run the same on allsystems.

When you did a gtest what was your results?

I'm afraid that if little Johnny can't run Aces High he's not going to have luck with pretty much any other game either. I'm pretty sure WoW is more resource intensive, at least.

The problem is if you turn everything off the graphics are worse than the last version which isnt right no matter how you slice it, It may not be possible to have the cake and eat it, only Hitech can save you all.
