Vasily Zaytsev - One or Multiple Snipers?

Everyone here should probably know of Vasily Zaytsev the great Russian Sniper of Stalingrad that killed hundreds of Germans soldiers, and multiple German Snipers. The man who insired other Russians to fight on in Stalingrad. Well the other day me and my friend were playing Red Orchestra when he told me that Vasily Zaytsev was not just 1 guy, but many Russian Snipers! He said that the original Vasily Zaytsev was killed in action in Stalingrad, and instead of announcing his death the Russians just made another sniper Vasily Zaytsev. Then he was killed, and they named someone else Vasily, and so on. The Russians just never told anyone the truth about what happened to Vasily and kept it a secret.

I'm not sure if he's making this up (like many others things), or if this is actually true! Anyone know anything about this??

I saw and interview with the man himself on old documentary film..
He was older, but definitely the same guy as the Stalingrad pics...
You could easily see it in his face... Was he a "put up job"???   Hmmmmm...
I tend to think not, at least until I see more confirmation.. There would be
paperwork stashed somewhere under the Lubyanka, or in NKVD/KGB HQ...
They kept rather meticulous records, of who shot who behind the ear, etc etc...
It's just that no one is allowed to see them...

It does sound like something Unkie Joe or his lackeys would pull...
Along with the staged films, and all the other BS that came out of
the Stalinist regime, ya can't trust much of any of it...
They did alot worse than that!!!  This would be NOTHING to them...

You could apply the "Multiple" to anyone.   I've yet to read a single factual source claiming "more than one" Vasily.   I never will either, criticizing a Veteran is one of the lowest things possible IMO.

Keep in mind it's not the veteran they're criticizing, but the regime. The Soviets were really the lesser of two evils during WWII, but it's a crying shame what we allowed them to get away with during the war to keep them fighting Hitler.

You won't get an argument out of me.   I agree.  Stalin was POS and the rest of the Allies Sold out a few countries to him.   But I get touchy when it comes to this type of stuff is all.

And how exactly would you have gone about not allowing the Soviets to "get away" with things? The only realistic possibility in my view of having an impact would have been to cut off Lend-Lease supplies. Diplomacy would never ever have worked in a million years against a regime as delusional as Stalin's.

It's called "Hypocritical Ideologies" to suit the situation at any given time.   I've read enough on Stalin to know he was intimidated easily by underlings.   Reading "Stalin's Folly" by Constantine Pleshakov proved it.   He often "panicked" when he didn't need too.  But, the book was many of the reasons they basically "shut down" the Politburo.   

They're still trying to hide their ineptness, but we've known it for a while.   Zaytsev was their "Audie Murphy".   No cover up needed.
