Hey now, the Mk1 is a fine bird - one of my fav rides.

True but ten Hurricane Mk1s are about as dangerous as ten flies once you get to speed. With out altitude the Hurricane, Zeke, Brewster, and I-16 are easy to avoid. None of them will take down a town either without a miracle.

You cant "scale" a terrain like that btw.

Each map would have to be redone and the bases placed the correct distance. In other words you would have 2.75 maps worth of work to build and only one layout. The only time saved is the altitude bitmap and basic field positioning. You would be better off building custom maps for each arena. Why a WW2 game has 3 sides fighting each other is beyond me, game play be darned. A two sided 128 mile map would be a lot of fun with more fighting. If we went to two sides there is a ton of SEA maps available. Maybe then we might start drawing new people into EW and MW.....

Perhaps a sector could be 15 miles in EW, standard 25 miles in MW and 35 miles in LW.  Map layout wouldn't have to change, since the scale would change the base distances.
I'd rather not see LW's flight to combat times lengthened at all.  I have already heard complaints about AH's long flight times compared to combat times from friends I managed to get signed up for short periods.  My goal would be to make flight times a bit shorter in EW and MW than they are in LW to try to get those arena's activity levels up by making them more enjoyable.

Maybe if everyone didn't climb to 25k those flight times wouldn't be so bad.  ;)

They didn't climb to 25,000ft.  Usually 5,000-10,000ft.  They are comparing AH with other PvP games like Team Fortress and the comparitively long delay to the fun part (combat) was a major issue, or the major issue, to them.

I've seen some good ideas in this thread; troop multiplier, shorten sector size, being among my favorites.

Now how about 15 miles for EW,20 for MW and 25 for all other arenas.Add to this the troop multiplier and possibly a burn rate adjustment and these might have a positive affect.

As for burn rate,I say 1.5 for LW,2.0 for MW and 2.5 for early. This would affect the planes in such away as to require more fuel having to be carried on the shorter maps.

Even if only 1 or 2 of these ideas were implemented I think it would improve things.
