lack of Terrain for GV's
« on: August 06, 2009, 03:13:46 PM »
I just wanted to put in my 2 cents about the new terrain for gv's.

Did we go back to pre-christopher columbyus days when the world was flat?  No hills at all??????  are there any plans to put a lot of the small hills back in the terrain?  As it is now theres no cover except the nice new trees for miles in each direction.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I've come across lots of hills. They just aren't the random "super speed bumps" that cause a vehicle to stall out when hitting them.

Whats new is the paper buildings you hide behind and still get shot.  :O  Not sure if some can still turn the graphics down to see through trees and buildings.  :noid

I don't have much of a problem with this flatter terrain but the other night I was GVing in a canyon and someone spawned on top of the canyon wall.  I had to drive back to a bridge to find a way to elevate my gun and by the time I got there I couldn't see the guy on top of the canyon anymore even though he was still there.

I also had a similar problem with a guy overlooking one of our bases from atop a hill so this does give a guy with elevation an advantage.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

These are the only real problems I have with the new, "version or patch", whatever ya wanna call it...
I read in another thread that it is only temporary, till they have the time to finetune the terrain..
Hope so!!!  I know they are still busy gettin the overall game smoothed out... Seen the results..
So, I'm waitin as well...

No hills you all are nutts.......... or never been in a gv on the new terrain.... Try spawning 135 on the map thats up right now....

It looks like to me its the same bump map as before with just differant textures.

Our pilots demand target variety.  :D

You are wrong. 135 is a special case, a mountain / hill base

All the small hills on the flat terrains are gone wherever I checked. Along with the missing woods, it's a drastic change in GV gameplay, and not to the better in my opinion.

I will post some comparison pictures later.
