Lots of planes have aquired the name of "widowmaker", due to some type of nastyness in their flight characteristics.. Or, a reputation for catastrophic failure in the air, deserved or not.. All it takes is the bad rep, to get the name stuck on it..
A few not mentioned so far, Sopwith Camel, GeeBee Racer, Mig3, F100 Super Sabre, F104 Starfighter, AV8a Harrier..

B-1B Lancer
You just can't beat it. I was at an airshow recently at Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX, celebrating 25 years of having B-1B's at the base, they had them doing afterburner passes at low alt and such, it was AWESOME!

As for my favorite WWII aircraft, I have to go with the Avia B.534, it retains that biplane grace and elegance in the age when everyone wanted fast monoplanes and such.

Spitfire F.Mk XIV and Mosquito FB.Mk VI.

In terms of the Spit, and despite being a Spitfire XII fanatic, I've come to the conclusion that the best looking of the Spit family are actually two of the Seafires.  The Merlin Seafire LIII and the Griffon Seafire XV.  I don't feel as guilty about the XV as it's the RN version of the Spit XII

The Malcom hood P51B/C is the best looking of the Mustangs

109E7 is the nicest looking of that series.  190A8/F8 with the later canopy is the nicest looking of the 190s to me.

P38E/F/G/H small intake versions of the 38 are a tie since they're essentially identical

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

The #1 most beautiful and sexiest airplane of all time is the Seafire Mk 47. We all know that ultimate test of manhood in flying is being able to catch the third wire after all.  :D
