Just interested in what the motivation for your squad might be...ie. friendship, comradre, History or perhaps World Domination?

What do you try to accomplish as a squad, if anything, and how do you percieve yourselves in AH?

Always wondered is all :)

Definitely friendship and comradery for me. I have a blast talking to the boys on RW nightly.
We also take pride in killing a lot of people (is that a good thing?). We try to work on our wingman stuff, and can do pretty well when we are on our game.

I started it because I sucked and needed someone who could fly to watch my 6.

Seriously though, these are the only guys I know that are as into WW2 and aviation as much as I am... enhances the game experience 100 fold, and I've met some really great friends.  We talk about this stuff as much if not more than we do it...

We don't call 6's, insult each other at length and cut down Fatty's mom.

We captured a base back in beta.....

When I ran a squad I tryed to make it as historical as possible by asking my crew to fly a plane set   like alll a6ms and ju88s   or all p-38s and b26    each mission was different so different planes ,

I also liked to hit strat targets more than furball around a base .

I also ran contests with real prizes   usually models cheap but real .

no one wanted this so I quit running a squad
  :(

You gotta be a lil nutty to CO one of these squads in the first place, I literally didn't know what I was getting into when milenko and I formed up the assassins in warbirds. We quit the squad we were in at the time because our CO dissapeared for like 6 months  . So it was me and milenko on private channel, I was new to flight simms and for some stupid reason thought the CO was like 2nd in command and XO was the leader. So I tell milenko I'd like to be CO, if he'd be XO. I think he knew that I had it bassackwards, the bum! Now I'm the poor fella in charge.  :)

I started the 332nd Flying Mongrels back in 1997 with “docdog” (he and I were high school buddies).  It was his idea and he insisted I run the show. Prior I was wanting to be a member of the “Red Falcons” in Warbirds, but they never sent me an invite.  :(

From the get go we recruited by “personality only”, skill did not matter.  Doc and I were out to make friends and have fun.  That paid off 10 fold and to this day ghosth and I run it the same way.  :) Like many of you I have made some wonderful life long friends. I have had harppa, woodog, vaderr, wklink/crash come visit and I have had the pleasure of meeting ghosth, dhog and ozark.

As a squad, we've been together a long time - way back to INN days.  Most of the AKs participating in 'Aces High' have been together since 1998.  I've been a CO in the AKs since 1998 and I always look for the same thing in a new recruit: What kind of person do we have here?  Will I enjoy talking to him?  Will he stick around in the AKs if Aces High (heaven forbid) goes away?  I am interested in finding nice guys committed to the idea that a group of us can have a lot more fun than one of us.

Flying skill never enters the equation.  Almost always, flying skill is accompanied by ego problems.  To be sure, there are exceptions, but not many.  :)

We don't have a "CO" as per say. 5 of us were in another squad in another flight sim. The CO in that squad was an Idiot. Myself and VFJOKER were XO's of 2 flights and broke off. Some went with us. We made this squad with 8 guys. Our main objective to answer the question is FUN. Thats 1st and foremost. We love taking on RW and have been together for over 2 years now. Some have left but the bulk have stayed.
We look for guys that we think will be fun to play with. No matter of skill or flying preference. It's a game even though we all tend to get uptight at times.
We think of ourselves as help to who ever we are flying for at the time. Rooks , Knights , Bishes. We're here to help and have fun. And that is what life is for isn't it?

Hmm I am not the CO but an ex-CO does that count?
I started the Red Dragons with another guy back in simguilds flying circus.  We just wanted someone regular to fly with.  I started meeting all kinds of awesome people.  We sucked at flying but had a blast!
That became our recruiting requirement... it is really our only one.. Personality above skill.... if you happen to be good then that is just a bonus.    We moved to AH during tour 1 and last year decided to go historical with the unit.  It was a group effort to find the right squad name for us.  What do you know Joe's Jokers is a real squad name  ;) Jokers ....now that is a good description for us.. well Fat Drunk Bastards was already taken ;p

Point.. the squad is just for the fun of flying together and meeting and becoming friends with guys/gals from all over the world that like the same kinds of things  :)

Skernsk exaggerates.

We don't have a CO, we've NEVER captured a base and Fatty's Mom bakes us pies, the sweet old dear.
