I am currently running the game very well. I have no stutters and my frame rate holds at 60. Game looks great!
Since all systems differ trying to fix a few can be problematic. I have several questions that might be looked into
in the future.
1.) Crossfire. Some of us can enable it and some can't. Why?
2.) Tray Tools and CCC. Tray tools gives me the blue screen of death. Not right away usually around 1 hour of playing with Cross fire enabled.
Tray Tools was installed properly after uninstalling CCC using after the uninstall registry software to clean and repair after the uninstall.
3.) I've been informed by others that have used the latest issue of Tray Tools get a white screen lockup and have had to use a earlier version
of Tray Tools.(Shamus)
4.) CCC used it in other games with Crossfire enabled. No problems and CCC in taskbar while playing.
5.) BushLT has got a new gaming rig. He has two ATI4870 running crossfire both 1gig cards. His control I reading is VidMem 3,096.
My Control I reading with Crossfire enabled with dual 4850s and 512K each reads VidMem 512 Used 285 and without Crossfire reads
VidMem 512 Used 162.4 When I run crossfire my frame rate is cut by two thirds? Why? So it appears problems could be based on
specific systems, hardware etc. I'm running a quadcore Intel 9400 with 4 gig DDR2. My vid cards are 512K each with DDR3 and I'm using
WindowsXP Pro and BushLT is using Vista64bit. I n my case I had to properly uninstall tray tools and again install properly CCC and NOT
have it running in the task bar with NO Crossfire to get the proper vid usage and performance from 1 Video card (FR solid 60)
I was on the phone with Bush and Lowman last night looking at his system start boot. Ran a few Dxdiags and looked at his display tab to check driver version and memory
amount for his display. Dxdiag sees 3 gig of Vidmem for his system. We checked the date on his driver, used registry software to clean it. Uninstalled his driver and again
used registry software to clean it and downloaded and installed from AMD the latest version of the driver for his cards. Same results in Vidmem available and Dxdiag saw
the new driver. BTW Bush installed the latest version properly (he informs me) it did so automatically defaulted properly.
So, as you can see there are many problems. They could be driver related pertaining to card manufacturer. Bush and I use the same driver (4800 series) his is dated 7/2/09
mine dated 5/12/09 (or there abouts) So maybe we will have to wait for driver updates? Or is it a problem with CPU?
You can see fixing problems in AH is a huge task. Trying to make a one size fits all is difficult. Bush, myself and many others have monster machines that should take little or no tweaking to play.
Some have older machines that may have to be tweaked to play. Drivers, Chipset Drivers,CPUs', and Video Cards and combinations thereof not to mention sound drivers I would assume
have an effect somehow. I don't design (code) and know nothing about it. But I would assume this would be akin to teaching a class how to speak English with people from 80 countries with
differing dialects to teach.
Good Luck HT and Pyro! I'll send the Scotch after you're done swallowing 80 Advil a day
