mass crash
« on: August 07, 2009, 10:54:07 PM »
There was a furball at A34, possibly with more than 32 aircraft total.  The screen went white and the application crashed.  When I logged back into the arena, it seemed that everyone in the A34 furball crashed at the same time; there was no one there.  The strange thing is that although the base was not flashing previously, it was flashing when I came back.

I got booted before the mass crash.  According to my squadmates about 10 mins before the mass crash.

Made it a very enjoyable FSO eh?

I hope the scenario fares better tommorow!

I had one white screen in the tower in the MA today.

As well as two lockups in the tower with clipboard up.

I had a white screen crash earlier today (had me worried), but the frame went very smoothly for me.

I've had the "white screen a few times as well, any clue yet on the cause?

when I launched, half the sky was white and all my instruments where white. So I bailed, and when I end the flight It crashed to the desktop. I went back in and launched with no problems after that.

since the 2.14 update, I've have had the White Screen crash 3 times.   Only (minimal) bad thing so far.

Up to about 6 now, but not during the frame, luckily.  One right before, one right after.

I guess the important thing is whether the crashes have impacted tonight's frame.

Aside from the frustration of getting disco'd in the middle of the event, there won't be any other ramifications that I can think of.  I don't know that proxies would be awarded in the logs if there was a mass disco like that.  I'll take a look at the logs and see what they say.  Regardless, some allowance will be made if I can determine all of those involved.

Well another related symptom was before the mass crash the bases were not flashing indicating NME activity.  The first notice we had that A34 was under attack is when the NME killed the dar and the dar ring went red.

We dashed to the field, into the abyss and the mass crash.

After coming back from the mass crash the field WAS flashing as it would normally do but there was no one to be seen.

I don't know how you "adjust" for this type of system failure.  Fly the whole frame over would seem the only logical choice.

The first time I logged in I crashed because of a 0 frame rate.  After reloading frames stuck at 60 with vsynch. I was about 5 seconds from pulling the trigger on a con when the app just crashed. :cry
Logs show vanished without a trace :noid
