I just spent $$ on an ATI (AGP) Radeon HD 4650. The game keeps reverting itself back to basic graphics. Frame rates are 20's at best. My old ATI 9800 Pro (128mb) was never this fussy, just lacking in video memory.

Thndr, I have a very similar system (AMD 2.2ghz) and just upgraded to an ATI 3650 512 card.  I have been able to get frame rates up to 60 but am averaging about 30 to 40.  Did you download the Catalyst 1 SW in order to set up the card?  Also I have been using a program called Smart Close to stop all unnecessary processes (that seems to help with frame rate).

Flayed1 and I are experimenting. He now has my new card and is trying it on his slightly faster machine. We're thinking my motherboard & CPU are finally to wimped to play AH effectively. I must say, I've lost my enthusiasm over AH with all this tinkering. Not very "average "Joe" friendly. I'll be back in business for sure next spring as I will have money for PC toys. I can't guarantee how squad night is gonna go, if at all. If I ultimately can't make headway on this, I may have to hang my account up until next spring. Can't afford play things right now.

EDIT: Flayed just called me and said my new card does not run well with Aces High on his machine as well. However, he can run EVE Online with everything maxed out.
