NO issues until this very latest patch 8.9.09
« on: August 09, 2009, 12:22:33 AM »
Everything fine until this patch.  Better than fine.  Collisions didn't occur as easily and bullets were no longer rubber.

Now it seems like they reverted back to the old collision code or netcode or something, dunno.  I'd love to know EXACTLY what happened.

So now, here are my issues:

-5 second freezes with a stutter in sound, thought I was going to have to hard down the system only to come back to a tree flying into my face.
-On someones 6, 200 away in a tight turn..  I KNOW MY KI84 VERY WELL.  I shoot, straight through the guy.  It wasn't until his engine was knocked down from ack that I was able to get hits on him when he leveled out.  What was bad before has gotten worse.
-Net code looks weird.  I used to get a bunch of up/down chopping lines for HOST QUEUE TIME...now I get a straight line with some dips toward bottom.  Then it resides back to a solid line about a 1/4" from the bottom.
-Varience looks different.  Not smooth like it used to be, all bumpy...but instead of above the line now its below??

Not sure what those last two mean really...just throwing it out there.

If I keep getting these 5 sec freezes during inopportune times I too am going to probably take a small break from flying fighters and just drop bombs or tank.  (hush about quitting, I'll quit when the stick is pryed out of my cold dead hands! :)

It doesn't appear as if this last patch fixed anyone, it only seems to have hurt many more.

This may or may not be the same problem but here it is anyway.
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,270377.0.html

press ctrl i in the game and see if Video Memory is 0.
minimize aces high and post how much CPU usage. Usually find this with ctrl, alt, delete.
Still have problems just post.

Your description fits a computer running out of resources.  I also noticed your computer has used 1.3GB of page file space.  That's just not normal.  How many background processes does your computer have running on it?

Sounds like... A Trojan Downloader or Spyware, only seen a couple of them that do this kind of thing to a computer but they are nasty little things and they are hard to find if they are made good enough. What is your current anti-virus? Spyware is bad, bad, bad, bad, it will usually add new icons to your desktop, make your computer run slower and add CPU processes.

He's using Windows 7 64bit...I could have sworn that big paging file usage was something that showed up in the latest pre release rev unless you tweaked the settings a bit. Spyware on that OS is rare and from some testing at the office, the stuff in the wild right now barely has an impact on it.

He's also running DirectX 11 which isn't supported by any current Nvidia graphics cards.

This is interesting:
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Display Memory: 2289 MB
Dedicated Memory: 497 MB
Shared Memory: 1791 MB

Never noticed that aspect in Win7 64bit...not sure how you would get that unless it's an onboard video chip.

Windows 7/Vista all create shared memory for cards if the driver allows for it.  This has been an issue with new drivers from NVidia.
