zoom in planes
« on: August 11, 2009, 11:17:38 PM »
I have had this problem for the last couple of years.  I cant zoom in or out while in a plane, that includes buffs too.  when I press z on my keyboard it just limits me to one setting, and I am unable to adjust using the []  keys.  I should say that i dont have this problem while in any gv's and I am able to adjust zoom function as needed.  does anybody else have this problem? I have a gateway 820 pentium 4 computer with 2 processors and use the x52 joystick, but i also had the same problem when I was using a logitec joystick.  I have the x52 mapped to zoom in while in the game and it only works with gvs.  I have tried remaping the zoom in key to something else but it dont work either.

Unless the mapping changed (and you said you checked this) I'm not sure what could cause it.

Have you tried hitting shift-Z to reset the zoom to the default level? Does it work?

Sounds like the bracket keys in mode 1 got mapped to the stick, and not in control mode 2 whiel in a GV.  Once a command is mapped to the stick, the keyboard counterpart no longer works.

Or, some other software, like a stick manager, is capturing the keystrokes.

Easy way to find out.  In the game installation folder, rename the "settings" folder.  Do not remove it.  Then start the game, go offline and see if the bracket keys zoom in/out (after going into zoom mode 'Z').  If they do, then the problem is in the stick mapping.

If the problem persists, make sure no stick software is loaded in the computer and try it again.

the zoom keys were set to my stick but it didnt work even after resetting the joystick mapping. I renamed settings folder and remapped the zoom in toggle to stick again and that seemed to work for both planes and automobiles  :lol.  will remap the rest of my stick and hopefully everything will be back to normal.  thanks for your help
