 :headscratch: Not interested.
Rather see the expansion of WWII aircraft needed for events especially Japanese and Russian.

Don't you wanna get rid of us mindless furballers so the capture and pork weenies can have their fun in the WWII arenas?

Folks, grow the fugg up with this puerile "in" baloney.  The topic is recent enough and solidly
related to the other topic where players have now come out of the closet to whine about HTC
spending time on WWI aircraft - or anything else at all.

One thing HTC is proof of (and twice to boot) is if you don't like the direction or where the
efforts of a developer are going then you're more than welcome to go and create what you
want on all your own!

Anyway. IMO AH is stagnant. It's game-play has not fundamentally changed in 10 years
and even then it was old. AH today could essentially be called  AW-IV or V.  Sure there have
been tweaks and aircraft  additions but it's still the same. It's a fantasy world used by
customers "flying" computer modeled WWII aircraft in a non-WWII environment.  Unfortunately
the attempt at departing from this 20 yr old recipe was CT and it never got past the gestation
phase.

But as this and other topics show a WWI era air-combat would be welcomed by many of the
current player base and if you looked outside the box (beyond AH) you'd see there's a whole
chitload of other online air-combat players out there. Lots more than play here. (I'd bet Korean
era aircombat would enjoy a strong following too)

IMO as long as the WWI genre is developed and not just left to rot with 4 aircraft to use it
should do well. But if it's doesn;t grow and develop then the use of  the WWI arena and it's
aircraft will wane and would soon be underpopulated like the AvA arena.  Low numbers of
players would occasionally go their on a lark to goof off for an hour or so just like in AW
but that's about it.

Except, all of these things have been done before.  This is nothing new, only new to you.  Air Warrior had a WW1 and Korean War arena, along with a Full Realism arena to augment their relaxed realism hole.  Both the WW1 and Korean War arenas were less filled than MW currently is.... and this was in a community of mostly all-adult, dedicated ACM junkies.  It will be a hit for about two months..... then everyone will migrate back to the superfurball.  You'll soon understand, when you fly it, that WW1 was all turnfight, and that just favors the plane that turns better (or the guy who pulls harder).  It gets pretty boring after a few sorties, IMO.

I don't see the need, personally, to realize whoever's pipe dream the WW1 arena is. Probably some need a change, I understand that.  Maybe it just makes testing the new damage model easier.  But again, if it makes some people happy or bring more subscriptions in, more power to HT.

I am gonna try it out, who knows I may like it.  It however does not capture the same place in my imagination as the WW II era.

It's not new to me in the least. If you're recalling AW then you're conveniently forgetting how
lame the AW WWI and Korea offerings were. Reread my post as I did elaborate on that. AW
did not further develop or add to their token WWI/Korea offerings. IMO that is why it died. It
got boring flying the same two planes in a la-la environment.
Unlike AH ten years ago AW did not have the HTC view system, any kind of  ballistics or
ordinance, a believable flight model, more than a rudimentary damage model nor any kind
of sun or clouds.
Given what HTC has developed for online air combat I am one who believes their go at a
WWI or Korean era game/sim could work.  If they don't develop it further then it will surely
suffer the same fate as WWI did in AW. Againa, because it'll be boring and then become
an unused arena.

I'm here for the WWII set. I have no interest in WWI. I just see this as a leak in the ship.

I am intersted in the entire history of combat aviation.  I see this as another rung on the ladder to the promised land.  100 years of air combat history.  Although HTC might need to hire another head to get there before Oct 2014  :airplane:  :D

I'm all for a WW1 AH Sim as long as its done well. WB's WW1 Sim, Dawn of Aces wasn't very good. One of the best aircraft of WW1, the Fokker D7 was a dog in there. There is always a lot of focus on the Fokker Dr1 and the Camel but in reality they were short lived designs. Designs that held the line until faster better types like the D7 and other Allied became available.

The best WW1 Sim out now is the mod for Combat flight simulator 3: Over Flanders Fields.   Aircraft fly like biplanes should. Real weather. Excellent graphics. If AH's WW1 is close to OFF then it will be a good expansion. One of the problems with the AW WW1 game was that it was about the same as DOA, couple of decent planes, no real strategy other than fly and shoot. Dated graphics. WW1 and Korea were both under developed in AW. One map, few people. There is a definite void of WW1 flying games. Both MMO's and standalone. A well designed expansion of 4 aircraft would be a excellent use of resources. If not well designed it will be a waste of time.  :airplane:
