Host Discos

So what gives here,..Do I have a new bug with the new addition or perhaps a host connection problem.
God forbid I use a perk plane etc,...
Vista issues with the new patch?? re-load the entire game?,..Gremlins still being ironed out :salute.
If there is a simple solution one of you encountered and solved with multiple Host connections @ Discos please forward an idea.

I've heard of wired internet connections doing this, which is unusual because wireless is usually the ones you hear people having problems with. This one is one I have SPECIFICALLY heard being a problem with discoes. I don't know, your DXDIAG looks clean, I don't know for sure what could be the problem, although I have also heard of Direct X 10 not cooperating with game activity, check drivers. I have also been discoed before when something suddenly messes up my wireless connection, Thunderstorms mostly but anything that interferes with connection. Hope this little bit of info helps.

seems to be kind of high, although I am not to familar with Vista requirements......

you might be experiencing these host connect lost, due to processes running in the background........( ie....antivirus progs, IM/chat progs, P2P progs, etc....... ) try checking to see whats running and turn off any unneeded apps/processes.......

The 1st thing that jumped out @ me was your page file.

Page File: 1145MB used

You got "stuff" going on in the background.  I run a pretty 'clean' system and you have 2-3x the page file usage I have. (ish)

Any one of the things going on in the background constantly could be the cause of your discos.
(i'm w/ TC on this though and am not 100% what a 'good' page file size would be w/ Vista)

I would have to see a 'HiJack This' report to better say if it is a background process.

2nd you might consider a video card driver update.  Yours is from last year looked like.  I would search this forum and see who else uses a similar ATI card and what driver is best for them.  (I have never had anything ATI so I can't quote you the 'best' driver for the card)  There were a ton of posts in the BETA Forum dealing w/ ATI cards and might be a good place to look.  (or just use the SEARCH of course)



As far as Eagleclaw and the "wired" connection...
What the HECK are you talking about?
You have "heard" that "wired internet connections" will make you disco from AcesHigh?
Oh please do show me that post.

And when you say "this one is one I have SPECIFICALLY heard being a problem..."  what are you talking about?  This one what?  Which one.

Also, please show the post where Skuzzy (or anybody @ HTC) says DX10 is not "cooperating with game activity" in AcesHigh and could cause you to disco.

gpcustom, as Lute has posted you should be able to update your Video Driver to the current Ati cat 9.7 video drivers.......


also, something that might be causing you problems is the fact that your Videocard also supports HD sound.....and you have 2 sound cards loaded up, according to your DXDIAG report......( according the EagleClaw  your DXDIAG is "clean" .....that is not actually correct....)

others in Aces high II have experienced problems with having the Ati HD sound device enabled, at the same time as your default ---> onboard or pci slot sound card ( your specific PC has onboard sound by Realtek )

these (2) seperate sound devices/cards are showing that the DirectX Sound / Duplex settings are set to "basic" on both.....my opinion is they have been configured automatically by the OS ( Vista ) to use the basic setting so they both can work together , although if you disabled the HD audio from the videocard you will see some improvement, and you also wil be able to turn your DirectX sound back up to a minimal of 3/4's if not all the way to Full duplex......

as, Lute pointed out..try to post a screenshot showing your processes running, or if you are familar with "Hijack This" get & post a Hijack This report so others can better help you with your problem.....

Okay, if you are just going to dis my post, fine, people in the DA have talked about a wired connection causing this, not in a post, this has not been proved by myself but is something I have heard in conversations in the DA. Please, PLEASE stop ranting on me, everything on here except the thing about DirectX 10 I have just HEARD from other people flying in ACES HIGH. The DirectX 10 part was something I saw in a thread, can't remember which one but was something about this not cooperating with that. I would also very very much appreciate it if you would not add insults and put downs as sidebars. This is getting annoying.

My Sincere apologies to anyone I might've mislead, all my information is just to try and help those who need it, all this info I have thought to have been true...

Great catch TC.

I missed the HDAUDIO part.

Doesn't the HDAUDIO w/ ATI Cards only 'work' if you got something connected to the HDMI port on the back of the ATI card?  Unless something is plugged into the card does it "do" anything?

(like I said i'm fairly "weak" re: ATI stuff)

I could see where this might cause a problem w/ the realtek onboard sound.  A quick google showed many people having issues w/ HDAUDIO and Realtek onboard sound.

I'd be curious if in your BIOS if your sound device is set to AUTO or the Realtek.
