Salute All!
Many of you old timers know of one of our squaddies named Plumbit. This gentleman has always been one of the best B26 drivers in AH.
I received a note today that I want to share with you all. Plumbit has had a rough go of it lately. He hasn't been able to fly as often as he used to and here is why,
" ............I went in and the opthamologist examined me, he sat back with a real serious look on his face and told me that he wanted me in his office the next day and that he had to start some laser surgeries on my eyes and said that if I did not start this now I would be blind in a month. Needless to say that scared the living crap out of me as it would anyone else so since then I have been going in and having various procedures done about every week to two weeks. My last procedure was yesterday and I am now just able to see with both eyes well enough to write to you. I have had over 880 burns into the retina of my left eye and 750 in my right eye. This has destroyed tissue in my retina to the point I have lost some peripheral vision. The conditions I have are Clinically significant macular edema and Proliferative diabetic retinopathy, check them out on google. The positive side of this is he caught this just before I lost my sight and while my sight will never be as it once was I will be able to maintain what I have now, hopefully indefinitely. As for being able to play the game, that still remains to be seen. (little pun there)............"
Please keep our squaddie in your thoughts and on your prayer list.
If you would like to email him, PM me and I will give you an email address to use.
