I was having a problem recently with vox transmissions causing a freeze whenever I transmitted, after searching through the forum (great resource!) I saw some problems like this were cause by USB microphones.
I dismissed this at first as the cause of my problems (I am using a mic connected through my soundcard) but then I realised my webcam had a built in mic and it was USB.
I went into Device Manager and disabled the webcam microphone and the problem vanished. I'm not sure why it was causing an issue but thought I would post this just in case it was useful to anyone in future.
