New Version
« on: August 18, 2009, 10:40:06 AM »
Well, the new version is in, and it has been pretty thoroughly patched now. I'm running with 1024 textures, detailed terrain, detail watered, no self-shadow or water reflections, all the anti-aliasing that makes a difference far as I can tell (3/4 clicks), and all distance detail sliders to max. Basically, I think my frame rates are if anything slightly BETTER than with the old version, with of course a significant improvement in graphics (The new water in particular has really fixed the old "planes melting out against a water background" problem). A significant improvement in graphics with no notable increase in demands on my system is pretty damn amazing. WTFG the HTC team! :aok

Doesn't matter how much you butter them up, HTC will not perk the XVI. :rofl

I am surprised so many people could not play. I am running an 8 year old computer that Plays the new version. Albeit I am upgrading a couple things to get better graphics, as it is right now my graphics are most similar to AH1, with AH2 plane graphics.

GREAT WORK HTC!!!

The game looks and feels fantastic!!! I'm running AH2 on a laptop which was brought this year for work.

I love jetting through the canyons in my 262, with the game cranked, TrackIR and a drink in my hand. I think to myself “yeah, this rocks!”

Time to change my pants.

So that's the way it's supposed to look, eh?

Interesting.

Wish I (and hundreds of other people) could see it that way.

Would be nice.

It doesn't take much to run the new version maxed out.

Logged on for the first time in a month or so last night and was pretty pleased to find that I didn't
have to make more than a few adjustments to optimize performance.

<S>HTC! The game looks mighty nice indeed! :aok

One thing I did find was I couldn't spot GVs from the air. Even with "ground vis" on and flying
very low in my F4U.

Hundreds???  :huh I'll give you one hundred for sure and their systems have either outdated or inadequate hardware...maybe another hundred who see just a little less detail than what those pics show.

Maxed out? No, it takes a pretty decent rig to do that. If half of this games population can run maxed out (including smooth self shadow) I'd be surprised.

Very true motherland, a top end graphics card is needed to run smooth self shadow. It looks super cool but isn't needed.

I have to disagree, since patch 6. People that fly with No details at all, the terrain looks absolutely awesome. It looks waaayyy better than the other patches and version 2.13. Personally I like it,but Im still looking into another computer to fly with details.

Who said anything about the "self shadow" options being turned on? BNZs said specifically he has self shadow off...and the pics Kazaa posted are from a laptop, so you know it isn't running self shadow.

How about a P4 2.4GHz/ 2GB PC3200 DDR/Geforce 7600GS 512MB AGP 8x??? Runs it fine without self shadow.
