Invisible CVs
« on: August 22, 2009, 01:48:06 PM »
It would be nice and might help CVs live longer if someone in command of a CV had an option to make the fleet invisible  (on the map) to everyone of less rank then them (also disabling the move and goto commands by the same option). That way once a mission is ready to proceed the option is deselected and everyone can up as they wish.

Just a thought.

Another "It's my cv, you can't use it" thread?

Any other suggestions about where I can or cannot fly from Admiral General?

Fleets should make a base flash anyway.  Or make the "the waypoint is touching land" much further out.

Sorry just trying to find a solution to the dweebs (does that include you?) upping before the SBs and Ords are down. The presence of one CV plane is all it takes to generate wave after wave of B25 dweebs strafing guns down.

Come to think of it that might include you.  :D

Ideally the ordnance is already dead by the time the CV gets within 25 miles.

The El Capitans that think driving the CV within spitting distance and then kill ordnance are the real problem. I find it absolute hilarious that people drive CV so close and then have to climb out to sea. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it farther out and climb towards the base, keeping out of SB range?

Common sense is just too much to ask tho....

+1 to both.

You would think someone would notice the 8in guns pummeling the town and/or field.

Like using the same logic used to explain a dar bar.

"Someone saw a plane flying over"

How about instead of cvs flashing a base, give them their own "dar bar."

Try hiding your cv now.

So wait, I wouldn't be able to see my CV because I don't bomb and strafe down strats in bomber and attack modes, spawn camp and toolshed bases in GV mode, and fly tempests to vulchfests in fighter mode?

 :huh

Let me get this straight???    You want the CV to be invisible for anyone with a lower rank than the person controlling it????

So lets say a player with a rank of 200 takes the CV, it is supposed to disappear to everyone except for those ranking 1-199?   <insert Bill Lumberg voice>  "Yeah, that would just be great.  UmmmKay"

So, once you have accomplished your invisible CV, how exactly did you want for people to be able to join it so you can run your mission/take the base?  Kinda hard to go to a base you can't see to click.  Certainly even harder to up if you can't see the deck.

Now see... everyone of you jumped in and replied as if you want CVs easily killed and their positions given away and the only consequence of that is sunk CVs. Yet all of you also prefer to think of yourselves as primarily furballers yet the best fight there is in the arenas is CV versus airfield. So either you fear the good fight or your just hypocrites without exception.

Have a nice day.

Or, we don't have to be parked on the beach to use a cv.

The consequence of the CV being sunk is a direct result of how it is used.
