I only fly Spit 16s, can't bring myself to fly anything else.  They all seem inadequate.

Thought I was the only one who came to that same conclusion.

Inaccurate blanket statement.

ack-ack

Hmmm...what's inaccurate? Lots of people seem to pick out a plane they like on a looks/historical basis and then figure out how to make the best of it, instead of figuring out what the most uberleet ride is and going with it.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Plane choices in the game are actually *not* being made on a rational basis of relative utility. Thank God. The MA would be much less varied if they were.
Of utility, you mean what's best suited for the task at hand?
If so, this is incorrect to a point.

I don't disagree with this other then to say it's not many people.  I think there are hard core groups of 109 drivers, 38 drivers, F4U drivers etc, but I think in comparison to the masses, it's a small number.  Most folks couldn't tell you the differences in Corsairs, 38s, 109s etc.  They just want to know what is the fastest with the biggest guns.

I bet most players never had heard about a La-7 before... and then the La was among the three most popular rides in the MA for a long time - until some minor handling changes occured, and whoooops - usage plummeted down.

I had never heard of a Typhoon or Tempest before this game... Was confused as H*** when I first saw them in the hangar!
