Oh how I miss Motor City Online  :frown:. Best online racing game ever made in my opinion.

That was a pretty good setup. I did some of the early beta testing on that game and kept a car in the system for a while. It sucked to see that game go away.

I was in beta as well and for a few months once it went live. I stopped when they brought modern cars into it, took the whole feel of the game away.

A bunch of friends and I started playing GPL again, still my favorite racing sim. It's over shadowed by newer sims with better tire models and such but I love that era of F1 racing and there is nothing like it out there to switch to.

Well .. just so yas know .. Iracing is the Papyrus NASCAR crew .. they are all about fidelity and simulation.

Dave has taken the next step and then some from what I hear.
Dale Jr. and a bunch of others run it and provide input with car design and setup.

(they are the guys who did GPL.. the actual people who coded an such)

Mazz - You mean GTR?

Yes, thanks.

Any product that accurately models a 993 GT2 is automatically on my good side.  ;)

Alot of good choices to pick from! I love Sim games (no, not The Sims Game :P ), but is there even a free roam option in these games? The only thing I liked about Burnout Paradise was being able to just drive around with friends while playing my music. These games kind of look more like a "join a server and start a race".

Mazz - LFS has a 911.  It's 100kg heavier and only puts out 360hp/288 lbft to what look like maybe 280-300 rear tires, but it's already pretty fun.

They don't have any official licenses, but the mechanics are there, under the bodywork.  There's a car modifier app that you could use to edit this 911 into a GT2.  You ought to give it a try.  You can literally feel the suspension and tires working.

Latrobe - No free roam possible with the LFS engine.  I think there was a Test Drive game recently, that ought to have that.  You can try some of the "cruise" servers in LFS, but no guarantee they'll be free enough.  You can start your own server or rent one and set it up for that, though.  Password-protected and everything, so that only your friends could join and drive around.  But the single-path restriction will prolly kill it for you, I reckon.

Are you talking about the Masta Kink, I do a 10% lift in a Lotus then throttle pinned again about a heartbeat later.
Spa is by far my favorite track it has my three favorite turns/complexes in it, En Rouge, Malmady, and Masta.

 :salute Colin Mcrae

Do you know he died a couple of years ago flying his helicopter? It was very sad - his friend and their two sons also died. I can't remember what the cause was.

Hi

Get the Gran Prix Legends 2004 demo.

It's still pretty impressive. It have many year 1967 F1-cars, but I just love that Ferrari V12 sound.

heh - I clearly remember rolling my virtual Ferrari out of the Monza pit, start racing down the track, and listening to an ever increasing scream from the engine. I think that is the only time a computer game sound gave me the chills and a big smile on my face
