That back stretch in Solitude.. with the uphill twisties before it.. All thru the country side scenery, racing at out-of-control speeds with a half dozen friends, that was nirvana.  Even for someone like me who never liked the stone feel of the tires.
Zandvoort was my fav... You could be sideways thru almost the whole track.

Thats a render from the West brother's Racing Legends.. Never came out as far as I remember.  Shame really, cause they were building it to have pretty much everything modeled.  Down to the nuts & bolts.  You could open up the car and look at the insides in detail, in real time.  Each car would have its serial number, etc.

yeah - we waited and waited for the West Brothers Racing Legends... vapourware.
lol - their site is still up : http://www.racing-legends.com/

Never tried online racing with GPL - and the AI could be very stupid. The challenge for me was - to begin with - to survive one lap at the Nordschleife  :), and later on to try and improve my lap time. I hated the low grip tires, but loved the challenge.

I didn't like the grip either. Never made sense intuitively. No real feedback..  But Zandvoort made it all ok.  It was just intoxicatingly good.  Sliding thru the raceline right from T1.   The real killer for me wasn't the Nurb - just need to be patient - but Kyalami.  That thing was just a hazard all around.   Spa was awesome, but I never trusted the tires enough to enjoy it for all it was worth.  Was always pretty disappointing for that reason.

Dale Jr. and a bunch of others run it and provide input with car design and setup.

Hmm, then maybe Dalejr. should concentrate more on his real car then his computer game. :furious

andyes Wooley I know. There's been more than afew racers who have died in aircraft related incidents. I know awhile back Davey Alison,

Nascar driver. His I beleive was pilot error. Don't know about MCraes though. Still sad.

Yeah Zandvoort was a blast to drive, reminded me of downhill skiing. Fling the car left sideways, then right. So much fun! Kyalami wasn't too bad, the ring killed me I never really got used to that track to be really good at it. I just didn't have the time to really learn it.

What I truly liked about GPL defects and all was how fast it felt (felt like driving a race car), no other game/sim ever did that for me but GPL.

I miss Motor City Online also.

I worked with the team that did the original MCOMOD for EAs F1 series.  I did the physics, Mike Chino did the models, Conductor did the engines.
That was a fun project.  Stuck with it through the flat out mod, then left.

Yet another fine product killed by EA  :furious

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

I run iracing and I do have fun with it. INDY cars are next, with the C6R and the Miller cup. 3 updates I'm looking foward to. The TDI cup is a heck of fun. I'm more of a GT racer, than open wheels & ovals anyway.

Txt or add me as "Friend", Olivier Raunier for the ones who want to AH Iracing :)

Iracing intrigues me due to Dave Kaemmer's magic.

The Legends cars (the '40's retro jalopy lookin affairs) looks like they would be just a blast to run around in,
..both for real and in this sim. I would love to be able to run 'em :)

GPL had me from the first time I strapped into an Eagle.
It felt 'right' ..those old bias ply nylon tires behind a few hundred horsepower duplicated exactly what it felt like to drive some of the muscle cars I grew up on.
I took a '68 427 tri-power vette out for a test drive from a used car lot (in 1973, they wanted 900 bucks for it) ..
You could fry those stock tires on the Vette bangin into any gear at any decent rpm.
.. the Eagle in game actually cornered substantially better but it was all about throttle control all the time :)

I've been hearing alot about "Test Driver Unlimited". How is that game? I know there's Free Roam in it, and that's what I'm really looking for in a driver game. Anyone have this game??

I would be very interested to join an aces high grand prix legends league, even just a few of us. I am playing with 3 others right now.

Anyone interested, or how to implement it?

I would but I've got no wheel and no free time :(  There's free forums all over the net, if you don't want to be stuck with just 1 thread here in the OC.  Otherwise I might be able to set something up on a parent site elsewhere (not guaranteed though).
