I was just in Blue arena, Knights own 60% of their fields and 0% Rook/Bish fields (about 20 total I think), Rooks and Bish own 40 fields each. Bish have 45 people, Knights have 45 people, Rooks have 18. Bish ENY is 26, Knight eny was 23.
Overall, I don't find all that much wrong with ENY, but here was an instance where I felt it hurt rather than helped. I wish for a Modifier to ENY that takes into account the % of your fields owned. Obviously if you own less than 100% of your fields and are hit by an ENY of 23, it makes it difficult to retake your own fields. I don't expect this to be a large impact to the ENY, and I only would like to see it affect it when you own a fraction of your own fields. Perhaps it is even as simple as follows.
Knights own 60% of their own fields, 0% of other teams. Multiply current ENY by % of your own fields owned. That 23 ENY now becomes 13.8. Still a fairly high ENY, but not unusable.
I know what you're saying though... what if the Knights owned 20% of the rook fields in addition to 60% of their own. Well, add their percentage * 2. Why times 2? Because an opponents field is worth double to you, its one that you have & one they are supposed to have. So now the Knights would see 100% of the ENY they are supposed to. [60+(20*2)=100] * ENY = 100% of ENY.
And if this modifier ever gets to be over 100%, then just throw it out. This way it is a one way modifier, and won't worsen the ENY.
To Recap:Team | # of Players | # of Fields | % of Fields owned (B/K/R) | Current ENY | Modifier | Proposed ENY |
Bishops | 46 | 41 | (100%/15%/3%) | 26.7 | N/A | 26.7 |
Knights | 45 | 20 | (0%/60%/0%) | 23.5 | 0.6 | 14.22 |
Rooks | 18 | 39 | (0%/25%/97%) | 0 | N/A | 0 |
Or in another Reality:Team | # of Players | # of Fields | % of Fields owned (B/K/R) | Current ENY | Modifier | Proposed ENY |
Bishops | 46 | 41 | (69%/15%/3%) | 26.7 | 1.051 | 26.7 |
Knights | 45 | 20 | (0%/60%/9%) | 23.5 | 0.782 | 18.33 |
Rooks | 18 | 39 | (31%/25%/88%) | 0 | 1.0 | 0 |
1: The Bishops only own 69% of their fields, but they own 15% and 3% of their opponents, so their modifier is 0.69+(2*(0.15+0.03))=1.05. This is greater than 1.0 however, so it is effectively ignored.
2: The Knights own 9% of the Rook fields, so their modifier is 0.60+(2*(0.09+0.0)) = 0.78.
