That not good driving my friend that just being lucky. Unless you managed to outrun police trying to give you speeding ticket all these years

good driving doesn't necessarily mean driving slow. it means being able to judge what my car can and cannot do, and taking into account the traffic, and road conditions, and my state of health at that point in time.

 when i don't feel well, i drive slower. i don't weave lanes. i don't tailgate.

it's also knowing where the police tend to hide, and/or spotting them before they spot me. and of course there's the fact, that as long as i'm only doing 75 or so, they'll not go for me when there's better tickets to be written on the guys doin 90.

Yeah, if I hit you as a result, guess whose insurance is footing the bill, love muffin?

Unfortunately Sax your company would be flipping the bill. You will be blamed for hitting them in the back and not having control of your car. I know it ain't right, but that is what would most likely happen in that situation.

This goes back to the original problem - most people are completely retarded behind the wheel, but believe that they are good drivers. They squeak that someone isn't driving courteously, so they do something even dumber to lash out at that amazinhunk who thought he could just pass them while in the passing lane. If the BMV ever tests for intelligence or courtesy... going to be a lot of empty roads and cars for sale.

Doing 80 in a 65?  Sounds like you're both bad drivers to me..   ;)

Isn't that 65 a minimum?  :huh

I'll be the first to tell you I'm not a great driver, but I've become better.

What scares the heck out of me are the crazy drivers with a death wish zooming by my mini-van with my wife and kids in it.

... man the o-club is bringing me down tonight.

Doing 85 will give you less time to react, you not 25 anymore. To be a good driver doesn't necessary mean free of moving violation it is also to be able to prevent an accident. If some moron suddenly merges and slams brakes in front of you it doesn't matter what police report say, it could have been avoided by going slower.
Belive me you are lucky, lets pray to God it stays that way:)

Sounds like exactly what happened to me, except I brake checked him and he was literally 2 inches away from hitting me, HE GOT POed OFF tHE WALL. He went in the other lane, looked at me, gave me the good ol' bird and sped off. I was going 75 he must have been going 90 easily. Anyways we come to a bend in the interstate and hes all the way out of my veiw due to the curve, well I look to my right and I see a black and white going probably triple digits down the feeder, hits the on ramp and dissappears. Guess who I saw pulled over after the curve ended  ;)

I smiled my entire way to work then. :)

correct, i'm not 25 anymore. this is part of what decides my following distances when i'm driving. (and to be a good driver doesn't mean to drive slow either BTW  :aok )

my head is always on the swivel. there's not much that i don't see before or as it starts to happen. i don't ride the right lane, so worrying about merging people is a non issue, although i'm always watching the ramps as i approach, and pass them.

i don't watch the car right in front of me. i'm watching as far down the road as i can see. if i watched the car in front, i can't really legitimatly see anything beyond him. by watching as far down the road as i can see, i am able to see and register things that're happening closer to me.

30 years driving, learning to adapt to different conditions(including my age), learnign to adapt to people that have no clue what their car can do(or will do in an emergency).
and believe me, in the PRNJ we eventually get most weather conditions. i've driven my 89 mustang gt in 2 feet of snow. i was driving a 26k pound tow truck in 96 when we had that blizzard in south jersey. was driving a tow truck in the 03 blizzard too.
i've driven in rain so hard it was hard to see much past the hood.

i've NEVER been a "passenger behind the wheel" as a good 80% to 90% of the drivers on the road are.

so....while there IS luck involved(it is for ALL of us) there is much much more ability involved than you seem to think.

when i drive to florida, i tend to check the on ramps as i approach them. down south, at night, especially in the carolinas, and gerogia, police like to sit about 1/2 way up them. most people are busy being drones, or looking in the center for police.....so they getcha.
