Chalenge...42 - 56 fps in what game?

My old system with the 7300GT gets those kind of frame rates in AH (as of patch 6) and my 9500GT gets 74-75 in AH as of tonight.

Dual PSU's with that configuration you have probably wouldn't be a bad idea...and I wasn't "blatantly criticizing" your setup...just the fact that you have a system that is total overkill for AH and most games available right now...but then who knows what 4th quarter is going to bring?

How many armies can you put on the battle field with Medieval 2 Total War? I've been able to get 4 complete armies at the same time without a glitch and zoom in on the action.

FSX... I dont play Medieval.

Games are secondary to my computer considerations but I do consider it a good idea to make FSX run as well as possible and then AH falls into place nicely. AH runs as smooth as I can ask except for the flashing white screens which I can get rid of by alt-tabbing. So if I am looking to improve anything in AH it would be the shadows. I dont believe I am running out of memory but FPS drops to the teens with 8meg (or 8k) shadows. I suspect that the i7 MB and 920 processor will fix that but I wont have time to put that system together until the end of September at least.

Probably not...Delirium has one and he's posted problems with patch 8 on his setup...looks pretty robust according to his dxdiag output.

I can play FSX on a RAdeon X1650, barely, but I can.

Chalenge, you may have seen it in the past yet BaldEagl and another member of the AH community were discussing how SLi has functionality problems with V-Sync. Apparently V-Sync doesn't always work with SLi and therefore can cause glitches similar to what you have encountered.

Yes that might be true.

I see a problem with using anything but default (4096) settings for Max Payload Size in the BIOS and testing that leads me to think that using shadow textures set at 8192 will only cause problems anyway. Also if anyone has a device that cannot manage 4096 in the PCI-e channels then they too could have problems.
