Umpteen builds ago, I came across this EXACT scenario.

Board appeared dead, power supply was fine, etc.  Called Intel support, spoke to someone in India, new board shipped figured I fried it somehow.  New board arrives, install it and the new board is dead too.

Removed the motherboard and basically connected the power supply to it on the table OUTSIDE of the case.  Connected the case switch so I had ON/OFF capability.  Flip the switch, processor fan spins up!

Unhook and put motherboard back into the case, dead as a doornail.  It turns out that in my excitement to put everything together, I installed the motherboard riser screws in each and every hole in the case below the motherboard.   :o

It only takes one out of place riser screw to touch the board in the wrong place and cause it to short out.  Make sure all of the risers are lined up ONLY where there are screw holes in the motherboard.

Few things I noticed, not sure if it was just for the benefit of taking pictures though.

The I/O ports aren't plugged in.

No SATA/IDE ports are plugged in.

No videocard is plugged in and that motherboard doesn't have onboard video.

Ya..connect your front panel pins.. also the G Skill memory you have runs at 2.0-2.1v ,the bios will set it to 1.5V by default.
No problem..go in to the bios and change the voltage..I have almost the same build but have the DDR3 board and only 2GB of memory..
There are a lot of other bios tweaks for this MB, read the manual..I have never had any problems running AH, no matter what patch is used..
The game should play perfectly with this build..

I run AMD, don't think be alot difference.
I would try just the MB, power hooked up,CPU, HSF, front panel wiring to MB. I would power up see if the CPU fan spins.Listen for any beeping, any lights that light up on MB, if have any.
Wiring from front panel power switch okay  (no broken wires)? hooked up correct? Is the switch good? MB installed correct. Are the power supply plugs, plugged in good in MB? (not loose). CPU installed correct? No bent pins?
can't think of anything else at the moment

Another problem I have encountered, make sure that the front panel pins are what they say they are.
i.e. if the PWR SW is white and orange, check to see that is really white and orange to the power switch. they could be miss marked..
Ah..pizzas done

X2 and the memory is to be in the 2nd and 4th spots not 1st and 3rd

Great ideas guys.  I'm home now, and will start trying again.  While in town, I also stopped in at Milwaukee PC to look at thier MB's, and talked to a guy there.  He doesn't think it's the board either.  He listed many of the same things you guys did, so I'll start working through them.  He said he also has seen where the PC wouldn't start without a keyboard plugged in.  Weird, but he's seen it.

Hehe, np gyrene!

OK, did I mention that this is my first build "on my own"?

Memory was in wrong slots (1 and 3, instead of 2 and 4).  Board set on cardboard, only the CPU and fan, memory, both power cords, powered up fine!  Screwed back into my tower, also works!  Not done, but on my way!

I'll be back!

Thanks guys!

Hows it going Phil?

as for the memory..........you can install them in slots DDR2_1(Channel 0) & DDR2_3 (Channel 1)   or in  DDR2_2 (Channel 0) & DDR2_4 (Channel 1)   either combination will allow you to obtain your Dual Channel Memory Boost..... ( these combinations is the only way your memory will allow for Dual Channel , as well )  ( this is on pages 16 & 17 of the MB manual ...btw )

shoot me a PM or a call, and let me know how things are going or went  :salute

edit: mtnman's Memory was in slots DDR2_1 & DDR2_2 .........per our conversation on the phone earlier this evening, and he had  his front panel power switch wires, Orange (+ ) and White (-) ,  backwards......  ( just noticed his typo above )

A suggestion,
Once you have put your PC together and is working where you want it, use memtest test your memory and prime 95, you can test cpu and memory for errors and also monitor your PC health status.
(cpu temp, board temp, etc etc).

This will help in aid of finding problems and making sure your system is stable

Interesting, I wasn't aware the PWRSW wire was polarity sensitive.
