Small problem, hopefully

Thought this was only for the Beta, guess not, but I got a 'Failed to create shadow -8" I think it was, I know it was -8.  Another thing was, I was running 8K shadows and everything on (3 click on AA), 1680x1050 Res.  About 1-2 sorties after the Shadow error I got a sudden framerate drop of 50 to 4, and it stayed that way until it reverted to low Res Textures, only way to fix it was go to 4K shadows or turn off shadows.

Sounds like the video card simply ran out of resources.  Running an 8K shadow map with anti-aliasing is going to require an enormous amount of video resources.  The card simply ran out and that is probably why the error appeared.  After that, it took some time to clean up the mess.

Whenever you run a video card out of any given resource, all bets are off as to how it will run after that.

Are they 8k or 8Meg shadows?

8192x8192 pixels * 8 bytes would give you the size.  In this case, 512MB.
