Back in June I was getting my house ready for my brother and his family to visit. Working my tail off I might add. My Mom, her friend Don, and my neighbor were all helping me. My neighbor was helping me put in a new window and the surrounding trim. Mom was cleaning and Don was painting. In between that I was putting up doors. Just really busy and hectic. I had to make a run to the store for some supplies. When I came back I noticed egg shells on the roof. Then I noticed eggs on the side of the house. Crap!, who would egg my house. I looked around the neighbors houses had trees in front and my didn't. So I figured some kids drove by and tossed them at my house because there was nothing in the way. I take a bucket of water and a brush and clean the house off, hoping rain would take care of the roof. When my mom looks at it I say well at least they didn't hit the windows. After cleaning I go back to helping my neighbor put in the window. About that time I hear a splat! Asked my neighbor did you hear that. I rush outside and right by the window is another egg. My neighbor said it could only be coming from the house across the street where there is a 6 foot privacy fence. It turns out there were 3 unsupervised kids there. I think I catch a glimpse of a white tee-shirt running via the gaps between the planks of the fence. I call the police. The police call the parents and it stops. I met the mother later that day and she is really a nice hard working mom. It stops. Life is good. But it gets better.
Yesterday, there were a bunch of kids on bicycles in front of the house. I'm not sure what they are up to. However, I really need to mow the yard. So I'm out mowing the yard. After the first trip around the yard I see right where I just freshly mowed a small LG cell phone. By this time the kids had moved down the street. I pick it up. It rings and a picture appears of one of the kids that egged my house. So I take it over to the mom. She is stunned and thankful. I told her I was just happy that the lawnmower didn't destroy it. She sends the kid back over to thank me for finding his phone.
I just wonder if that young man has a bit of remorse about egging my house. He looked a little humiliated.
