Lancaster III bomber
« on: September 02, 2009, 05:06:30 PM »
After the plane takes off i cant get contorl of it easily. When i turn it, it works, but when i pull back and try to lift up sometimes it goes up a few feet and then falls back to where i was, sometimes it wont go up at all, sometimes it goes down instead or up, and sometimes if i lean it forward trying to descend it will go straight down to the ground and when i try to pull up it doesnt move at all, it just keeps going straight down. I can never get it above the initial altitude the autopilot gets it to. This is only with the Lancaster III bomber, all the other planes work fine for me but i want to know why this happens and what i can do to overcome it.

A film might be helpful. Can you record a short one showing what you've described here?

He is referring to your fuel loadout. He is probably suspecting you are trying to fly the Lancaster with 100% fuel...

To post a video, you have to upload it to a filehosting website (for example www.mediafire.com ), then post the link here.

and how do i post a video?

See my message above.

75% will make your Lancaster very heavy, which can easily lead to the symptoms you aredescribing above. The more fuel you load, the smaller your rate of climb gets and the more sluggish your Lancaster will react.
Usually 25% is enough, 50% fuel will give you about 2 hours of flight time.

where does it save the videos to?

In your AH installation folder, ther is a subfolder called "films"

Lancs are real heavy and need at least 150/160mph to climb even slowly.  Max climb rate is about 1000ft per min when loaded with ords.  14x 1k bombs. They are good on fuel so don't take so much as the extra wieght can be a problem.
On take off , choose a runway with no climb out if poss and retract the flaps.  You'll get more speed on take off and as long as you keep the climb to around 1000ft/pm it should be ok.
I'm no expert but it works.
I wouldn't attempt diving with one, or going down verticle though.  The wings come off and the controls can compress.
It's a level bomber so try and keep things easy.

ya i had the 14 1k bombs, now i got 6 of em i think, and also i got 25% fuel now and its better but still its not that it was slow while going up, but it was unresponsive to my moventments. like when ide pull up on it, it would raise a small amount and then go back down to where i was, and sometimes when i would try to raise up, it would actually descend. now it does the same but its faster at doing it :P

what altitude is good for dropping the bombs? Someone online said they needed time to "kick in" so i dont know what alititude i should be at for this to be able to happen.

You can bomb from every altitude. Bombs need to travel a mimimum distance of 1000 feet before arming.

What altitude is really important for is survival, especially when flying Lancasters. Against a moderately defended target, you should consider flying at 10K or above.

ok, and ya now i understand what you said about not wanting to dive with these planes. I went to land to fast and like 20 feet off the ground my landing gears ripped off.
