Planes on the ground
« on: September 07, 2009, 09:08:49 PM »
What if AC added some parked planes on the ground?
When you are strafing a base you can get more explotions and flames?

Just a thought.

Would look great, but take up a lot of resources.

Haha, we're taxing the vid cards now. Lets have it so when you hit an ammo dump from 8k or below, you can HEAR the explotions, so we can tax the sound cards as well!!! Well, it would slow down runway vulchers anyway.

Are you talking about the runway vulchers? I just put that because I got vulched several times today while taking off.

And unless I misunderstand your post, then I should tell you this; a runway vulcher is someone who attacks planes sitting on the runway.

They have them on the airfields in Il-2. It's a nice touch, but really wouldn't add anything gameplay wise, unless knocking out fighters requires both destroying all the FHs AND destroying all aircraft parked on the ground (this could be made more difficult by dispersing large numbers of them across the field).

Thats not a bad Idea, but to keep a whole hoard from upping from that 1 little yak you didn't get, I say we should limit it to 5 planes per parked AC.

Hi chaps!

I believe they had parked aircraft in WB many, many years ago. I'm not sure, it was a long time ago. It was mandatory to shoot them down to close the field. Added nothing to the game and it was a lousy dispersal. Also served no purpose for the defenders... Still not much into strafing.

If they did, then it was before version 1.08, the first version I tried offline.

this would be awesome :rock and while your at it make the bailed pilots be able to get in those planes whether friendly or enemy it would come in handy :D

Well yes, but do you really want to have hoards of planes upping from that one plane left on the ground. and if the hangers are down, then a hoard of wirbs and tanks will converge on it to protect it. Do you REALLY want to try to make it through the fire 12 wirbs can put on a single target, all to down a base? My bet is that someone will fly several formation of lancs at like 8k, and, with salvo set to 14, procede to plaster the hell out of that particular acre of ground.

How many fighters would an FH like we have be able to launch?  How many are able to spawn from one now?

Maybe an option would be to replace the current FH's with parked aircraft...  Parked AC would be identical in purpose to the current FH, they'd just be a different graphic to see, in a slightly different location.  Maybe replace one FH with 6-8 parked AC, so the required ordnance poundage to destroy the equivilant of a current FH would stay the same, it would just need to be "distributed" over a larger area...

Nice idea! They wouldnt need to be as detailed as the planes we fly either, so it wouldnt be a huge demand on video resources.  You could also do the same with the bombers too.  Take one bomber hangar and convert it to a few bombers parked on the field.
