Not trying to be a jerk, but I don't know how else to phrase this...

How do you know the canopy is opened or closed? Other than a slight frame here and there, the aircraft's canopy is completely clear, so it woudln't exactly make a big difference in visibility.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be neat, but I'd rather see slight reflections and abnormalities on the canopy first to make it more obvious when it's opened or closed. =)
Or. if the canopy are open, then you cant hear your friends very good in your radio. You hear lots of wind or engine's sound.
The same can happend when you have holes from bullets in your canopy
