Comments welcome.  This would be my first build with an i5, reviews show it to be quite a capable processor - great bang for the buck.  Customer is not an AH player (yet  :devil)  but is looking to replace his old blown up Dell with something with some gaming ability.  Price can bounce a bit, but not too much.

when you drill the holes for the mobo 8 pin connector on the tempest case go little higher than the double rail.  you'll know what i mean when you get the case.  this is to avoid putting any stress on the mobo from the wires.  pictures that i got from TD on how he mods the tempest case really made a difference in hiding all the wires :).   also plan on spending an extra 200 to send all the wife/gf/kids/parents/roomate/dogs/cats/fish out for the day.  will avoid all the constant whining about "how long its taking you to finish" :)

So the build is done.  Took about 7 days and of course, had several issues, but with some help from our favorite builder TD, everything came together in time for the scheduled Saturday delivery. 

The first problem was the NZXT Tempest arrived with hidden damage, the front panel took a hit and several of the retaining posts were broken off and laying in the case.  I contacted NZXT and, of course, was told that it was the fault of either TigerDirect or FedEx.  Dead end there.  I called Rich and because of his connections, I had a new front panel on it's way to my house the next day.  Thanks again TD.

After assembly, the comp was not testing to the specs I (we) wanted.  13,200 benchmark score.  Decided to read a bit and found that I needed to upgrade BIOS to take advantage of the full tri-channel 6 GB 2000 MHz memory.  Done.  Benchmark 13,850.  Better, but still not there.  Ugh.  Called TD.  Tweaked BIOS for an hour or so and worked on very mild overclock.  Ended up with just over 17,000 score.   :x

Thanks Rich for your time, extra effort, help and (because I'm an idiot while on the phone with ya) patience.  My customer just about fell over when I delivered this thing, hooked it all up, installed his games and fired them up.  Even his mom was like "holy sh** that's sweet"

I forgot to fun the wire from the front audio under the board so it's running in plain site under the VC and I just couldn't get all the wires to hide as well as TD, but maybe next time...


Case modifications are done and most wires found a home.



Finishing up the routing of wires.



Everything looking as good as I can get it.

Nice score my E8500 + Radeon 4870 does only 14700 points.

My AMD 7850 at 3.0Ghz and PNY 9800GT only scored 10,571.  :frown:
