I could not get Shuliken to respond, so I don't know his yardage to me.  My yardage to him was 975 when he first damaged me, right after that I turned on film.  We had been level for awhile, additionally he must have had tracers off as I saw none.

Film

Enjoy!

Eeeeyup.  Want to see a short film of me? Merging level with an F4U-1C, he Immels 3K behind me, reverse completely and runs me down till he kills one engine at 900 with several pings of the 20mm. I was going straight to begin with and I kept going straight after the merge so no E loss on my part at all. He finished me off at 700 or so off my "6".

IMO, the 1C has enough ammo that many folks will spray and pray for that lucky, golden, long range 20mm hit. They get them quite often too. If it does not shoot you down outright it will cripple and make it easier for them to finish you off.

Hi

Guys dont worry bout it we can feel better cuz we know that all that stuff happend every single day of the war. Westy I too love the no E-loss reverses of our chog and and Niki friends, but surely those two particular aircraft were capable of such feats especially after they were fitted with the vaunted R2800 1.04, and Homare (is that niki engine name?) type 1.04 super motors of incredible power for endless energy reserve.
Dont worry be happy, and love the hispano cannon, chog and niki the most accuratly depicted weapon systems in AH!
Plus surely we all know that removal of F4u1d tiny rocket stubs increases performance so drastically, specially in the vertical and stalling departmnent, yep aha!

thanks GRUNHERZ

Well, I have to say, its fun to read these same things while on leave. LOL

Last time I remember, I was pinged badly by a Lanc rear gunner. My FE reported about 1,600yds. Eheh, weird.

Exactly. I reckon HTC should seriously tone down the damage that a 20mm or any round can do espc at distaces over 400-500. I know that with lag, on your FE it looks like 900 but on their (which is where the hit is scored) it could be around 600 depending on closure etc. To counter this you would have to factor in some ammount of lag induced distance descrepency factor.

Be happy that we dont have the ISD Executor modelled in AH   their turbolasers hurt (I know it first-hand  )

So far I only fly offline and in H2H. In H2H once I was killed at a whoppin 1.6K of distance.
Truth is that I had a text lag of nearly 3 seconds on the buffer, so it didnt surprise me a lot

I tried a F4U1-C on H2H yesterday, and killed a guy at 900-800 yards. I was impressed

I had a F4U-1C on the tail of my B26.  He wasn't closing at all... and was at about 1.5k away.  He started firing... I started laughing.... until my wings fell off!  Don't think it was my laughter that caused that, more like the Hispanos!

I nailed a C-hog that tried to run away on the deck from my mighty B-26.  Shot him with my forward .50 caliber browning turbolaser at 1.6!

Hi

Major Tom bomber guns are not 50cals. they are more like hispanos. They have extended range and impact effect, basically they are just like some 20mm cannon but with an even longer range.

My best is nailing a P51 at 1000yds with a 1 second burst from 950yds in my stang.

Sent the film to HTC (remember when they were asking for proof that long range gunnery existed?)

Funny, never got a reply though

Given up Chogging almost totally..is too easy to just spray and pray. If I want groundpounder I take tiffie...wondering why the same hispanos do less damage in Tiffie..
(haven`t got as much long range kills as I got in Chog.)

Try out YAK! It improves your flying skills  : you have to come close to shoot and f-4`s are really easy prey when you just stay out of his cone of fire. Been there done that.
